  • Texas court protects religious liberty

We've heard so much about unelected liberal activist judges who legislate from the bench to enforce made-up "Constitutional rights" and invade the province of Godly legislatures and juries, but here, a court has done the right thing and obeyed the principle that courts should have followed all along, namely, "How would Jesus rule?" Even though the decision concerns the Assemblies of Godlessness and not a real church, I believe that True Christians™ will now be safer from anti-Christian persecution by sick-ular bigots.

    Interwebs "news" source:

Texas High Court Says Exorcism Protected

FORT WORTH, Texas (June 28) - The Texas Supreme Court on Friday threw out a jury award over injuries a 17-year-old girl suffered in an exorcism conducted by members of her old church, ruling that the case unconstitutionally entangled the court in religious matters.

In a 6-3 decision, the justices found that a lower court erred when it said the Pleasant Glade Assembly of God's First Amendment rights regarding freedom of religion did not prevent the church from being held liable for mental distress triggered by a "hyper-spiritualistic environment."

Laura Schubert testified in 2002 that she was cut and bruised and later experienced hallucinations after the church members' actions in 1996, when she was 17. Schubert said she was pinned to the floor for hours and received carpet burns during the exorcism, the Austin American-Statesman reported. She also said the incident led her to mutilate herself and attempt suicide. She eventually sought psychiatric help.

Justice David Medina wrote that finding the church liable "would have an unconstitutional 'chilling effect' by compelling the church to abandon core principles of its religious beliefs."

But Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson, in a dissenting opinion, stated that the "sweeping immunity" is inconsistent with U.S. Supreme Court precedent and extends far beyond the Constitution's protections for religious conduct.
Justice Medina, despite probably being a Messy-can't, has it exactly right. Sick-ular courts have no business compelling churches to abandon core principles of their religious beliefs, even when some whiny emo girl claims to have been harmed (oh, boo hoo!). Just imagine what implications this blessed ruling will have for Godly True Christians™, particularly for our efforts to show Christ's love to homers. Praise His holy name!
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Good for them, but they sure messed up to have this end up in court in the first place. Every exorcist worth their salt knows plenty of techniques that don't leave visible marks.

      Great observation, Pastor Peters.

So much is made about the "complexity" of court cases. There should be only two simple things taken into consideration:

      1. How would Jesus rule?

      2. How would the devil rule?

This decision is so clear, Jesus in smiling, the devil is fuming.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.
