Re: Why do good things happen to bad people?

I think sometimes God just gets sick of the goody-two shoes bastards who think they're better than me just because they went to a real college and know fancy words. The kind who think that their good works and good deeds will get them a seat in Heaven with Christ. The type who lord it over everyone and who are always popular and the life of the party. Sometimes God just gets fed up with them and He decides to smite a few of them, just to teach them a lesson of some kind. Just look at Job.

    Praise Jesus.

It does kind of make you chuckle doesn't it?

I mean you could have a homer dancing around the hell-hot coals of fire because he performed oral sex on a homo... and there I am eating at Christ's feast because I dragged a few darkies and homers on chains behind my truck.

    Tee-hee.

Ain't my rules; I just follow them. PRAISE JESUS!!!

As usual, you said a mouthful Brother.

This whole notion of "good people" or "bad people" dying is just absurd. We can't second-guess Jesus. He smites us a He sees fit, and it's not based on how many times you fetched your husband a cold beer.

If Jesus decides that you've pissed Him off, you're gone. It's that simple. That's proof positive of God's love right there.

Luke 12:46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

You've summed so much of it up right there, Brother.

I could ponder your posts for all eternity...

    Long, isn’t it?

We are here three score years and ten or may be a few more. Let us say we live to be 80. Divide 80 by Eternity, and what do you have? Nothing.

Let’s say that a really bad person starts being bad aged 10 and is really bad 2 days a week for two hours each day. 4 hours a week for 70 years = 14,560hours. That’s 1 year 8 months = 2% of a lifetime. But look at this period ->.<- That period is more than a billion times bigger than nothing and The Lord alone knows how much bigger it is than 2% of nothing.

And so, God's Judgement is meted out in Heaven, at the Pearly Gates. Not on this Earth. As you Christians sit and look down on the short and miserable lives spent in this Vale of Tears, it is nothing for are not a 1,000 years but an evening to God? Then what is a fleeting moment of 1 year and 8 months?

In such short a time, can we say really say anything is truly good or bad? Earthly punishment (except crucifixion) is as nothing in comparison. Trust in God, He will avenge His Servants in Darkness and Torment – a Soul that never rests, a Soul wracked with pain, a fierce dry heat that roasts off the flesh and then it grows again. Blind and deaf with smashed teeth, your enemies and God’s enemies will be raked by the claws and teeth of demons, and why? Because God loves you personally and He fights your battles and gives You, personally, justice in the hereafter.

Thank you for describing the Mormon initiation ritual for us. But what does that have to do with the question, "Why do good things happen to bad people?"

Re: Why do good things happen to bad people?

In Romans 5:8 we are taught, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Despite the evil, wicked, sinful nature of the people of this world, God still loves us. He loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son to be the propitiation for all of our sins - past, present, and future. Truly He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world, for He who knew no sin became the sacrificial lamb. He willingly gave His life to pay a debt that He did not owe, and one that none of us could have ever paid on our own. Because of His atoning sacrifice a way has been made possible for each of us, both good people, as well as bad people through the process of repentance, to one day return home to live eternally with our Heavenly Father.

God is good, just, loving, kind, and merciful. The Lord is aware of us all. He has shown us the way to return to Him. But, we have the choice whether to remain faithful or turn away from Him. The Lord can make weak things become strong, including our faith. We will be blessed exceedingly through the eternities if we will have faith and put our trust in Him and endure to the end!

Well friend, you certainly are a passive agressive. I find it very sad you do not want to share your love of God with the little children.

I like to think it is about a child who is repeatedly raped by a parent. It is not really that bad, once the child learns to relax. Certainly a lot better than not having the occasional meal. What really matters is the parental involvement in the child's life and giving attention.
I often tell my kids that the rare and meager daily punishments I impose upon them for heinous acts like speaking without being spoken to is nothing compared to the joy Satan will get from searing their flesh off of their bones as they watch. Placing a little ones hand on the hot stove is an excellent teaching tool.
God causes regular pain and suffering to us to remind us it could be a lot worse.

I think you may have been misled here. Santa Claus is a fictitious character introduced to gullible and trusting children by their parents. No child is born with a belief in Santa.

Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit on the other hand are evidenced around us on a daily basis and in all aspects of our lives and the Love of Jesus is imbued in them at conception.

To continue to believe in Santa after, say, the age of 5 is a little naive. The presents he brings are "of this World" and can be seen in the stores and catalogs around you. The Gifts of God are spiritual and eternal and are not for sale (although generous tithing is expected.)

Yes, Santa Clauses are seen but those are the equivalent of False Prophets - mere deceivers clothed mentally and physically in the robes of office to lead the young into sins of the flesh and envy. God is not seen because His Glory is overwhelming and this proves He is as He says He is in the Bible.
