I can understand how some people might think that in light of John 10:17-18.

John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

The Greek of the Textus Receptus may be a bit confusing. The Greek word "lambanó" can mean both "to take" and "to give".

Check this interlinear translation. The word for "to take" and "received" is the same (2983).

So when Jesus says He has the power to take His life back, He actually means that He is authorized to receive it from his Father.

You have to be so careful what you believe. One small misunderstanding can send you straight to hell.

I don't want to single out any particular false teaching.—.after all, everyone's seen them kissing things or doing orgies or grovelling on the floor.—.because which lies are being taught is unimportant. When God sent the evil spirit to King Saul and he went insane, insanity was about all you got. Yet David tolerated Saul's crazy knowing that God was with him (but not with Saul) just as Jesus tolerated the Jews even though they were cursed. That is not weakness. Having the power to act but not acting is different from not having the power.

Malachi 3:6-9 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Jesus descended through David. When we see people NOT having the power to act but acting anyway because they were listening to idols or the spokesmen for idols it's not a pretty sight. They can do some damage but in the end, like King Saul, crazy's as good as it gets. Satan wanted Jesus to turn rocks into bread and Jesus had that power to do that but didn't use it. How could He be fully human without the experience of hunger? And in the same way He could have the power to raise Himself from the dead but not use it because if He DID use it, how would He be properly dead? And if He wasn't really dead THEN, how could He be the perfect sacrifice or resurrected NOW?

God is always consistent. He says so right there in Malachi. It's so encouraging to have His teaching about things which on our own we'd get very wrong indeed. Not always wrong in the same way.—.just look at the warring sects.—.but wrong as wrong can be.

Salvation by confession and faith

Many Christians believe Jesus arose from the dead by his own powers, but those Christians are going to Hell. You have to believe that was God that raised Jesus

Salvation is not by believing in things or in doctrine but by believing in the person of Jesus Christ. There's the old favorite –

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And also –

Second Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

But if that's too hard, there's SALVATION BY BELIEVING IN THE MIRACLES OF JESUS AND THE DOCTRINE THAT TWO PERSONS OF THE TRINITY ARE ONE.

John 10:38 But...though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Your dissertation is plain confusing. By the last words I interpret that you can just pick one of the salvation choices and you are done. In this case I could be baptised and then go rampage kill random people as happens from time to time in America (it is a cultural thing already) and still be saved.

If you decided to go on a killing rampage, that would be the act of a sinner -> that you even contemplate this act, is proof, if proof were needed, that you were never Saved in the first place, you just thought you were.


To be Saved, you have to accept not only Jesus, but all that he said and did. If you do this, going on a rampage would never cross your mind.

Thank you for that Scripture, particularly I Corinthians 5:5. Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Scientologists, you'd never think there were so many ways to contradict God, rewrite texts to align with specific heresies or publish entirely new garbage to augment (or substitute for) The Bible.

Does Landover have a delivery unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. service? Perhaps this is what happened to old jewry, following their (failed) attempt at deicide and their utter refusal to accept God's promise or the benefits of being his chosen people. We know from Matthew 21:42-43 that Christians are now God's chosen people. Nevertheless a merely temporal entity, whether a nation or an individual, can do nothing "for evermore" as is confirmed by Revelation 21:1. The earth will not exist forever and nothing on it will exist forever.

Yet in the world which is to come Revelation 7:4.ff a thousand gross of Israelites are present. Could it be that although their stone-age iteration developed a false theology concerning praise.—.one that prevented them from accepting Jesus.—.God remained faithful to His promise by delivering them unto Satan so that in the day of the Lord Jesus a remnant would survive to participate in the perpetual praise event? Who could not adore a God like that?

Salvation by having your name written in the Book of Life.
Or least by not having your name blotted out or removed.

Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into [the New Jerusalem] any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. (see also Phil 4:3; Rev 20:12)

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Salvation by faithful stewardship.

Salvation by being handed over to Satan.
If you sin, you may be saved through the loving discipline of the church.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

Salvation by fire.
If your works aren't good enough, you may yet be saved through fire.

1 Cor 3:11-15
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

That question was answered many years ago by our eminent theologian scholar, Pastor Billy-Reuben, in his monograph Perserverance of the Saints - Once Saved, Always Saved.


There is no need for me to add unto his words:




Yes, friends, once Jesus has bought you WITH HIS BLOOD, you can do no wrong. You could meet the Devil at the cross-roads and offer to trade your soul for a brand new Ford Taurus, then go out for a raging night of wild homosexual sex, armed robbery, murder, and Democrat party fundraisers, and when you wake up the next morning you will STILL be SAVED!

SHOUT GLORY! The BLOOD of JESUS washed ALL those SINS AWAY! PRAISE God!

However, the key phrase is "once Jesus has bought you with His blood". Being saved isn't thinking that you're saved. It isn't being TOLD that you're saved by some liberal-minded so-called minister who is more interested in telling you what you want to hear than in bringing you to Jesus.

In fact, Jesus could show up in person and tell you to your face that you are saved, even though you are not, and you would still go to Hell.

Why, you ask, would Jesus do a thing like that?

II Thessalonians 2
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

These verses tell us that God picks and chooses ahead of time (from the beginning) who is and who isn't saved, amen. He will cause people to believe lies, just so He can damn them to Hell. Praise!

How can you tell if you are saved? If you have absolutely no desire to do anything other than pray, worship Jesus, tell Jesus how great He is, tell others how great Jesus is, witness for Jesus, forcibly convert others to Christ, tithe, work for tithing money, sing hymns, and pump out little baby Christian Soldiers, then you are probably safe in assuming that you are saved.

So, being saved means that you can do whatever you want, but you only want to do what Jesus wants you to do. If you have any desire whatsoever to do anything that is not listed in the previous paragraph, then you aren't really saved.

Thank you Pastor Enoe. This is one of the simplest and clearest expositions I have seen since your masterly analysis of The Ten Commandments and their Punishments.

Giving everything to the poor (keeping the commandments is not enough)
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor.

One thing a lot of people miss in this verse is “, and give to the poor.” That comma is more important than the Johanine Comma. It separates the previous clause/commandment and does not say: “and give it to the poor.” All the guy had to do was to throw a few Shekels to the poor – but such was his love of money that he fled and now burns in Hell.

Brother Bathfire, thank you for clarifying that point. The absence of the word it is crucial here. Had Our Beloved Lord said "sell whatsoever thou hast and give it to the poor", then He would have been asking the impossible, and Jesus would never do such a thing.

Because, just supposing my husband sold his boats, or horses, or whatever - then they would belong to whoever bought them from him and he would be in no position to give them to anyone, would he? As you so wisely point out, the comma makes this even clearer.
