When people make their predictions for when the rapture happens, they often reference:
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
You'll note that the verse says "as a thousand years" not "an actual 1000 years".
Why is this significant?
Peter says a LORD's day is very much LIKE 1000 years, it's not exactly 1000 years. This is why all those rapture dates are all messed up, those guys make it out to be exactly 1000 years when they do their math. But, they fail to take something into account. The word AS.
Why is this word AS so significant? Why is a day AS a thousand years. As mean's like, about, roughly, kinda sorta.
In the very beginning of the Bible (KJV1611) there's a day that is warned.
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Then, the snake said in Genesis 3:4 that you won't die. You'll remember, they didn't die that day.
Why, because a day to God is AS 1,000 years. So, exactly how long is AS 1,000 years?
Assuming that the eating of the forbidden fruit happened relatively early in the Eden story (I'm going to think it was in the first year), then we need to know, when Adam died. Thankfully, we are given that information.
Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
Adam lived a total of 930 years. My gosh, that's really close to 1000. You might say, that's "as a thousand years".
So, when God promised Adam that on the day he ate, he would surely die, that that day, was, to God, AS 1000 years, which IS 930 years.
There you have it, a day to God IS 930 years.
