A babies are born with sin. Once they are old enough to understand, the smart kids repent thier sins, become Baptized and follow the word of out Lord as written in the KJV 1611 Bible. Sometimes the punishment God bestows upon babies is actually punishement to a parent, grandparent or sibling.

what about the people that were born with type 1 diabetes?

Either their parents must've done something pretty bad against Jesus, or they must have thought some very sinful thoughts while in the womb. Either way, God knows what He's doing.
