    Re: Book burning

Book burning is wonderful because it makes not only a symbolic statement, but a practical one as well. By destroying heretical texts and books that can lead people to sin, you are making a proud display that you are a True Christian™ who will not tolerate such filth in your community, heeding Paul's words that nothing fruitful can come out of light and darkness yoked together, as well you permanently destroy these works of Satan permanently so that no one is ever tainted by them.

I also enjoy burning music records because the vinyl looks very beautiful the way it slowly melts and flows into one other, like some hippie lava lamp. I remember back in the mid-1980's, we had a public music bonfire. People brought all the Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Metallica, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees, Lionel Ritchie, Carole King, Menudo, Kenny Loggins, Phil Collins, and other Satanic music "artist" records and made a huge bonfire out of them. I swear the flames must've got about 30 feet high. It was a huge event, covered by all the local Southern California news media and actually made a story on 20/20 hosted by that shrew of a Jew Barbara Walters. It was a success!

I burn books all the time. I get several phone books a year which I don't use. Burn 'em! Voting materials all come in low grade pulp. Burn 'em! False Bibles? Burn 'em.

How about my old computer manuals? Burn 'em! Magazines? Burn 'em! What about the newspaper? That's like a book. Burn 'em!

People get so upset about burning some old wood pulp. What's the big deal?

Just as long as you don't burn my Bible.

    Book burning safety tip:

Please use just a splash of diesel (summer formula) to get the fire going. Gasoline tends top flare up (so to lighter fluid) so just stick with the diesel to have a safe and festive Christian Book Burn.

Oh, and please, if you would, throw an extra Book of Mor(m)on on the pyre for me !!

    Bless you !

Is this a reference to the apple in the garden friend? We TRUE Christians(tm) are always on the look out for snakes in our midst.

    Re: Book burning

Thank you, fapple, for inspiring me. I've just announced to my congregation (ah, the wonders of email!) our first annual Book Burn BBQ!

Over the next two weeks, members of my church family will visit all the used bookstores, thrift shops, etc. in the area and buy up all the books they find on the disapproved list. Things like "Heather Has Two Lezbean Mommies" and "Tom Sawyer" and the NIV False Bible and "The God Delusion" and "Introduction to Biology, Third Edition".

Meanwhile, a few of the gentlemen and I will be setting up big iron grates. We'll put logs and kindling underneath. Then, on the big night, we'll light them ablaze and start tossing the books on top of the grate!

Kids will stand about roasting hot dogs and marshmallows as their mothers heap on "Harry Potter" books. We'll sing hymns praising God and tell passersby that unless they straighten up and fly right, they'll spend eternity alongside those books, burning forever!

What a lovely night it will be!

We do it because the Bible tells us to do it. When God tells you to do something, it's best to go ahead and do it rather than stand around slack-jawed asking why.

Because we stand for freedom of speech. We can only have true freedom when the bad information is removed from the pubic discourse.
