Surely this example produces an undesirable outcome and due to added survival difficulties, should subside in a few generations.

this is what happens when organized religion does not change with the times.

That is an entirely different matter, difficult to study scientifically because of infiltration by camel DNA.

          I'm thinking these kids:

do not have to be a drag on society.

Just think about it, they could be farmed out to Sea World and become part of the seal act. They could be floating on their backs in the pool and be tossed a beach ball and do a balancing act.

They get off welfare and start earning some money for themselves. They could also get off food stamps since they would given all the fish they can eat.

          It's a win-win for all of us.

            Re: Thalidomide Children

            Dear Sirs,
my name is Alvaro, I'm Portuguese (a country neighbouring Spain) and I am one of these "thalidomide children". First of all, the women who took thalidomide, at least my mother, did felt very severe pain and morning sickness. As a Christian (and no, I am not a Catholic, I attend an Evangelical church), I see no evil in taking a prescribed medicine if in pain or sick. In second place, thalidomide does not alter the DNA of those affected by the drug. Its effect only occurs during the first three months of pregnancy, before the formation of the limbs. The case mentioned is a single isolated case, so, don't be afraid, there will be no invasion of malformed people and in a few decades none of us will be alive, so rest assured.
Thirdly, I am not a burden to the system, like most born with birth defects, as far as I know. Since the days of exhibiting "human freaks" in circuses are long gone (at least I hope so), and with the guidance and protection of The Lord, with my parents (also relatives and friends) sacrifice and help, I finished my studies, graduated and have been working for many years for the university of Porto. And yes, I do pay taxes. So I don't think your humorous comparison with seals or dolphins is anything but unfortunate and not at all revealing God's love for every person, disabled or not.
I wish your lives will be fully blessed with health and the financial means to never experience the need to rely on the mercy from others more fortunate.
            In Jesus name

I had tried to explain to those here that Thalidomide only affected certain areas of the embryonic DNA that controls the growth of extremities. Thanks you for confirming the defects are not transmittable. Please stay around here awhile. While the higher phenotypic expression of deleterious recessive genes often occurs here, that is no reason not to participate.

                    Dear brother,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post! What you wrote describes much better what I tried to say, in fact, when the drug affects the child, one to three months of gestation, it does not "create" a change on the baby's DNA that will be carried out throughout his/her life and transmitted to his/her descendents. God is truly the One Who controls everything! As an adolescent I had moments of doubt why me, why He allowed it to happen. I now thank Him for giving me a way to approach non believers and share my faith. Of course I will stay around!
Thank you again, God bless you.

                      Pastor Ezekiel,
I don't know what you are referring to with the word disgusting. I pray you are not using the word to describe me. Jesus Christ never felt "disgusted" with disabled or sick people. Just with those with no love in their hearts, those who rejected the Word of the Lord. And the hypocrites.
I don’t have “flippers”, I am not a dolphin, I have legs and feet and use my toes to type, write, do most things you do.
May the Lord bless you with a kind heart.
