Oh pray tell, great and wise teacher, what is your point? I await with bated breath the Truth™ that God's elect have hitherto been held back from knowing, never realizing the Real Messiah® would come in the form of an online troll.

Bless you, Dana! You heed the LORD's warning well. We must not treat those who are mere dogs and swine as if they were able to appreciate either the holiness or the beauty and wealth of spiritual truth. Especially those who willingly align with Satan by tainting the Holy Gospel with modern social justice garbage.

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
    Matthew 7:6

Professing is easy to do. Just move your lips. Why, one may even feel sincere at the time. How lovely that would be. How convenient for the spiritual simpleton who imagines a fail-safe immortal Utopia where everyone from Grandma to Ghandi sits on clouds and plays the harp without a complex thought in their head, naught but simple notions of contentment.

However, Jesus tells us we must also follow His commands.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
    John 15:19
Those who do not follow His commands will be pruned like the riff-raff they are.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
    John 15:2

The question mark at the end of your comment "What story does the Bible tell that I dont get?" begs to differ.

Jesus warns me not to play silly "gotcha" games with willing dupes of Satan (Matthew 7:6). People come here all the time thinking they're one question away from proving God's Elect wrong. Well the joke's on you, dear. There is no proof that will defeat my faith. There is no fact that will deter my loyalty. I will not be thwarted by logic or science or even simple common sense! As the Lord is my witness, I will believe what the Holy Bible tells me to to believe and I will have faith in Christ despite all evidence to the contrary and I will wait until death to claim my reward in Heaven!

So why did He set up the rules this way? If He wanted more people in Heaven, He could have set up the rules differently, for example allowing decent people who are not Christians to be saved.

Because the Bible is his word but when you get down to it it is translated and interpreted by man. And we are not perfect and dont get things right. I have heard a verse translated and interpreted several different ways. I personally think that if you are a good person treat others with love and respect then who knows.
While I agree there are differences in translations, these are usually down to smaller details - like whether Jesus had siblings or first cousins. The aspect of being a Christian as the condition to go to Heaven is a pivotal aspect of the Bible, in every translation in every language.

Sure we don't have all the answers. Heck, I'm not sure we're asking the right questions half of the time. Yet, for Christians, the Holy Bible should contain some of the answers people seek, right? And the Bible is clear - all people who do not believe in Jesus go to Hell. That includes not only aborted babies, but also babies that were born and then died of cancer or malnutrition or any other reason, at an age before they were able to accept Jesus. And that also includes millions of people who were born and died in the Americas before European invasion of this continent.

So the Bible tells us that God wants all these individuals to suffer in Hell. Otherwise, He would have made different rules - He is omnipotent, after all.

I dunno about you, but that makes me doubt that such God is even worthy of our worship. He sounds really cruel to me. And yes I know - chances are that I will burn in Hell for thinking this, but I just cannot force myself to bow before this sadistic God of the Bible.

Hello Miss or Mr. BigZ! I have been reading this discussion with much interest. I think I understand what you are saying, and I admire your faith. When I look at the same verses, including John 3:18, I just cannot stop thinking about millions of people who have been doomed to Hell just because they were born at the wrong time in the wrong place. Nowadays, you could probably argue that a vast majority of humanity can be exposed to Christianity if they wish it. That was not the case 1000, 100, or even 50 years ago.

Don't you think it is a bit cruel that God automatically sends all people who do not believe in Jesus to Hell, including those who lived and died without ever having an opportunity to hear about Him?

Because to me it looks like God loves a very tiny minority of humanity, and enjoys sending 99.9% of people to Hell. After all, He is God, He created the game of life, hence, He could have set the rules whatever way He wanted.

It really confuses me, because I want to believe in a benevolent God, but the Bible and history teach me otherwise.

Dear, when you say dumb things, someone will eventually correct you. That's just life.

Regarding your question, I will reply with a Bible quote:

1 Timothy 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

God is clear on the matter: instead of wasting your time thinking about futile details, you should be reading and obeying the Bible. And, as it has been shown both by Sister Mary E. and that Didymus fellow, you haven't been doing that as you are clearly ignorant of what the Bible says.
