What is a prophet?

We've got to know my new friend quite well by now and I must say how refreshing it is to get a new visitor to actually post in the introduction forum.

There are other forums however so I'm happy to reply, in this new thread, to a post that's been quite productive (although not about furries) as follows:

This is a very good question, I will explain to you the position of the Prophets in Islam.

This post is meant as information to educate others about Islam. It is in no way intended to offend, attempt to convert, or pull anyone away from their faith. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.



We Muslims believe in all Prophets. Even in Prophets you reject, and even Prophets we dont know anything about. God says in the Quran, we will all be judged, and that every people, received a Messenger. It is said in the Quran there were more than 120000 Prophets sent from God to Earth, however only a handful of them are mentioned by name. Alaihi salatu wa salam.

The list of those mentioned in the Quran is as follows (Arabic name-English name):

We believed each of the Prophets carried both a Message and a Divine law. The message, From Adam to Muhammad alaihi salam, is: Your God is One God. There is only One God worthy of worship.
The divine law however was specific for each time period and changed from one Prophet to another in minor aspects, the main aspects (do good, defend your people, charity, no sexual deviancy, be pure, etc) are the same in all.

Regarding your second question, Prophet Daniel alaihi salam,is known in Arabic as Daniyal and he is not one of the list because he wasnt mentioned in the Quran, However he is mentioned in several Hadiths.

The Hadith is the second source of Islamic law. This is what is told about Prophet Daniyal alaihi salam. Little is known about him, except that his grave was found and he was reburied to avoid the enemies to desecrate his grave. It is also believed he killed several jews and burned the Torah because they were trying to modify it. It is also said he predicted both the coming of Jesus and Muhammad salalahu alaihi wa salam.

Disclaimer: some scholars will say Prophet Daniel was not a real Prophet of God. But that is because they are mistaken and are progressive reformists. As a I am an Islamic fundamentalist, i accept all Sahih Hadith and dont cherry pick, so I must accept the Prophethood of Daniel

Different parts of Daniel were written by different people, for example Chapter 4 was written by King Nebuchadnezzar. You can compare the KJV in that link.

I could look up a list of prophets but do prefer whenever possible to get information directly, in this case from you, so that what we share will not offend.
