I hope you don´t mind me writing in this thread since the last posting is a while ago.
A few months ago I was telling our german community howI tried to spank my son (only 43 years old) with a chair in the face. He and my daughter in law invited me to dinner. In the resturant I was reading the bible to the people. We were kicked out of the building. I don`t know why.
My son drove me home and in the house he was talking about "putting me away". I raised a chair and tried to spank his face with it. Just a little bit.
I took it away from me and threatened me to stop paying the rent of my house and my female servant. I think I haven`t spanked him enough as he was still a little child.

I use what is handy. A hickory axe handle, a switch, a leather belt with a heavy buckle, the butt of a .45 or even a nice copper grounding rod.

God does not require us to use a particular instrument. He does want us to groom and discipline out children.

I have a hard time understanding why would some of you consider other objects to spank or beat your child with, than the one God prescribed in so many verses of the Bible: the rod.
Keep in mind, you still have a lot of variety at hand, tree branches, switches come in great variety, our all-knowing God took care of that: willow, hickory, birch, hazel and many others.
Spare the ROD spoil the child. Not the paddle, not the ruler, no nothing else!
