Gadhafi has actually really redeemed himself on the world stage and is no longer an enemy of America. Like it has been said above, he has been a strong enemy of Al-Qaeda and condemned the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

I read an interview with him last year and he sounds like a great guy, to be honest. He supports to dissolution of Switzerland as a state. He has revealed the truth that the Swiss are behind secret assassinations and run the money laundering cartels. He also shows why we need to keep medical euthanasia illegal. All this stuff about "personal rights and dignity" is B.S. Medical euthanasia is simply a front for murdering political enemies. (If Obama approved medical euthanasia, you would see right-wing leaders like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin suddenly "volunteer" to undergo doctor-assisted suicide!)

Anyone who wants to deposit money in secret accounts goes to Switzerland. And a large number of owners of such secret accounts have died under mysterious circumstances.

Yes, the report is a little excitable and filled with unnecessary sympathy for a terrorist, but it show that Colonel Ghadaffi was willing to support the imposition of democracy.

Freedom is not about mobs of citizens running around forcing changes in on their government just because it is unresponsive and is beholden to foreign interests - that is just ANARCHY and what the left wants. TRUE Democracy is following the American model were the Invisible Hand of the Free Market decides what is right or wrong, who should live or die. Groups of activist citizens and legislators is just chaos.

One should remember that Qaddafi was one of the 1st Arab leaders to denounce the Al Queda attacks, if he was not a friend of America would he have have done this.

Though some in the U.S. government pointed to this as a direct and positive consequence of the ongoing war in Iraq, others pointed out that Qaddafi had essentially been making the same offer since 1999, but had been ignored. In 2004, U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair visited Libya, one of the first western heads of state to do so in recent memory; he praised Libya during the visit as a strong ally in the international war on terror.

INTERNATIONAL INVESTIGATION: Islamist dies in Tripoli shortly after human rights group visit

THE Islamist terrorist who was the key source of the intelligence used to trigger the US and UK 2003 military invasion of Iraq has been found dead in a Libyan prison cell.

Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi allegedly commited suicide by hanging in the prison where he was being held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. His death followed a visit by a team from Human Rights Watch, one of the world's leading independent organisations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights.

The al-Libi affair opens a window on an extraordinarily close espionage link that existed between the government of the former US president, George Bush, and the authoritarian Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi.

Libyan-born al-Libi, 45 when he died last week, was a member of the anti-Gaddafi Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and the head of the al-Qaeda-linked Khaldan training camp in eastern Afghanistan from 1995 to 2000. He was detained in Pakistan in November 2001 and sent to a US detention centre in Afghanistan before being transferred by the CIA to the USS Bataan, an assault aircraft carrier stationed in the Arabian Ocean, and then to Egypt in early 2002 under the Bush administration's "extraordinary rendition" programme.

Under what has been described as "US torture by proxy", Human Rights Watch (HRW), quoting a declassified CIA cable, said al-Libi's Egyptian interrogators demanded information from the Libyan about al-Qaeda's connections with Iraq. The CIA document said the object of the interrogation was something "about which al-Libi said he knew nothing and had difficulty even coming up with a story".

Al-Libi's inquisitors subjected him to a mock burial in a coffin less than 20 inches high for 17 hours, according to the CIA cable. When he was let out, al-Libi was given a "last opportunity" to "tell the truth. Still his answers did not satisfy the Egyptian team. He was knocked to the ground and punched for 15 minutes."

I am sure some whiners in the LIEberal LAMEstream media will go on about alleged bombings of US Airliners in the '80s, but hey, youthful indiscretion. Everyone does a bombing in their lives soon or later, Qadhafi has moved on so the rest of us need to get over it.

Prominent neoconservative Richard Perle, the former Reagan-era Defense Department official and George W. Bush-era chairman of the Defense Policy Board, traveled to Libya twice in 2006 to meet with Qadhafi, and afterward briefed Vice President Dick Cheney on his visits, according to documents released by a Libyan opposition group in 2009.

Perle traveled to Libya as a paid adviser to the Monitor Group, a prestigious Boston-based consulting firm with close ties to leading professors at the Harvard Business School. The firm named Perle a senior adviser in 2006.

The Monitor Group described Perle’s travel to Libya and the recruitment of several other prominent thinkers and former officials to burnish Libya’s and Qadhafi’s image in a series of documents obtained and released by a Libyan opposition group, the National Conference of the Libyan Opposition, in 2009.

The Monitor Group did not return phone calls left at its Boston offices Monday. But Monitor describes, in a series of documents published by the National Conference of the Libyan Opposition in 2009, an “action plan” to "introduce and bring to Libya a meticulously selected group of independent and objective experts" who would be invited to Libya, meet senior officials, hold lectures, attend workshops, and write articles that would more positively portray Libya and its controversial ruler.

A 2007 Monitor memo named among the prominent figures it had recruited to travel to Libya and meet with Qadhafi “as part of the Project to Enhance the Profile of Libya and Muammar Qadhafi” Perle, historian Francis Fukuyama, [guy who says we're living "the end of history"] Princeton Middle East scholar Bernard Lewis, famous Nixon interviewer David Frost, and MIT media lab founder Nicholas Negroponte, the brother of former deputy secretary of state and director of national intelligence John Negroponte.

“At a critical time when the United States was debating its recognition of Libya, Monitor met with senior officials in the United States government to share its perspectives on Libya,” the company’s 2007 Phase I executive summary states. “In coordination with the client Monitor briefed officials and various agencies of the United States government. Monitor continues to advocate on Libya’s behalf with a range of leading individuals. Many of these individuals have indicated a willingness to engage with Libya and visit in the future.”

“Richard Perle … is an American political advisor and lobbyist,” Monitor’s 2007 Phase I Libya project summary states. “Perle made two visits to Libya (22-24 March and 23-25 July 2006) and met with Qadhafi on both occasions. He briefed Vice President Dick Cheney on his visits to Libya.”

Perle, listed as a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, did not respond to an e-mail query Monday.
