    And I think that God has a plan for each of us, as our fate can be defined as what we are compelled to do, and destiny by what we are meant to do. Murdering a baby interferes with the ultimate plan that God has for each one of us including the unborn child. That is the problem, when we stray away from God we keep upsetting what is best for us. Well, at least in the lessons I have learnt in life.

    Thanks for your insight on this matter Born-Again-Bob, I'll have to read Pascal's Wager, I am unfamiliar with him.

    Yes, and I came away from the scripture thinking that in Matthew, Jesus is introducing the new spirit of non resentment and of non retaliation. In that if someone directs the most deadly and calculated insult, on no account must you retaliate or resent it. And in doing so the True Christian has learned to resent no insult and to seek retaliation. Are these words for the victim of a rapist to follow in light of a rapist?

    Tit for tat, is not a savage and bloodthirsty law and is in fact the beginning of mercy!

    Has been a nice discussion, but it's time to get ready for Church, enjoy! I'll look forward to reading more when having returned.

    I asked anywhere in the Bible that says abortion is a sin. You haven't shown me anything except where a man can sue if his property (child) is destroyed by another.

    The Bible says nothing about getting rid of your own child. In fact, there are biblical precedents for killing your own child.

    Deuteronomy 21:18-21 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
    Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
    And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
    And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

    Genesis 19:1-2 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
    And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

    Here it says there will be a time where you will eat your own children.

    Deuteronomy 28:53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:

    You specifically asked for the Old Testament Law Samuel Coleridge Did Jesus not cite the oldest law in the world, lex talionis (tit for tat). Yes, Jesus like the Law says that the limitation of vengeance, lays down only those who committed the injury must be punished, and their punishment must be no more than the equivalent of the injury they have inflicted and the damage they have done. Again, would the baby be an innocent party? For those reason I did not come away from the scripture thinking that Jesus over turnt the law. Perhaps someone better educated can clarify this for us. Please feel free to elaborate some more.

    Interesting choice of verses. First of all, that is if a man hurts a woman with a child her husband can sue for the loss of his property.

    As for Exodus 21:24, didn't Jesus say something about that?

    Matthew 5:38-39 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
    But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

    Why would you use a verse Jesus explicitly overturns as your argument the Bible says nothing about? Plus, that's Old Testament.
    I take it you are in favor of making the raped woman marry her rapist?

    Where does the Bible say abortion is a sin? Children are routinely killed in the Old Testament.

    Do two wrong make a right? Which is greater, the sin of a mother murdering an unborn baby, or a rapist violating a woman? The rapist deserves punishment, does the baby? Wouldn't punishing the baby be punishment of an innocent party?

    I respect your opinion if you are pro-life I can see where you are coming from, however what happens if a woman was raped and became pregnant wouldn't shouldn't it be her right to get a safe abortion?
