Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum said he was "not surprised to hear" that the vote total for ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney may have been overcounted by 20 in the final tally of Iowa caucus-goers, but both he and his campaign were declining to weigh in on the story that broke Thursday night.

Speaking to a large gathering of New Hampshire voters at Windham High School, the Pennsylvania Republican said he was unaware that a local television station in Iowa had aired a report on a potential vote count discrepancy that would alter the winner of the caucus two days ago.

The station, KCCI, reported that in Appanoose County, a vote-counter had discovered an inconsistency between the number of the 50 votes he had monitored and what the Republican Party of Iowa had recorded.

I really can't see Gingrich being backed up by Santorum.

From a purely scientific and objective point of view the terms "backed up" in regards to these particular individuals is interesting. Thank you for the well reasoned input to this discussion.

I just found out Santorum is a friggin Papist like Gingrich.

With a name like Santorum I should have guessed. I guess it's Ron Paul for me.

Praise the sweet Name of the Baby Jesus Brother Enoch, finally I've found someone around here that agrees with me. At first I was willing the give Newt some benefit of the doubt, but let's face it – he has changed religions about as many times as he's changed wives.

There is no way that Jesus is going to tolerate a cathylick in the White House – you might as well change the address to 666 Pennsylvania Avenue and install the hot lines directly to the Vatican. Let me remind everyone the last time a cathylick was in the White House – it was 1960 when JFK stole the election from Godly Republican Richard Nixon (due to voter fraud in Chicago – the same place Obama is from I might add).

We've all had to suffer through over 40 years of conspiracy theories when in fact it was Jesus that took care of that little problem.

I still don't know what to think of Wrong Paul, his lack of commitment to killing mooselimbs bothers me. Then there is still Rick Perry – a Methodist, straight through the lineage from the Anglicants to the cathylicks.

Were I interested in politics I would have gone and voted for Sperman Cain purely for the entertainment value.

Considering the genetically recessive traits of evangelical christians the typical American I expect a Santorum-Gingrich ticket this fall.

I really can't see Gingrich being backed up by Santorum.
