I recommend reading the whole thread ASAP. You never know when you could pass on. You could not wake up after you go to sleep tonight, but essentially, the main point of it is Christianity is the only major religion that is faith based. You can be a serial killer, a rapist, and still get a first class ticket to the big man upstairs so long as you repent and believe in Jesus before your biological clock hits 0, but if you are the most noble and charitable person on Earth but happen to believe in the wrong God or none at all, tough, you're not making it into Christian Heaven. That "good person" stuff might fly with other religions but not Jesus.


I know how difficult it is for some unsaved people to read. That's okay! You can get the Bible in audio book format now. Feel blessed! Jesus visited Earth more than 2,000 years ago, but you have access to resources and opportunities to experience the Bible that those a mere 30 years ago didn't.

So why do you believe that God, if He exists, would let you into Heaven, despite you not believing in Him? That doesn't seem to be consistent with the Bible, nor your Protestant upbringing.

It is just a name. I just need to find a profile pic. I agree that Catholicism is very Pagan. It is a mixture of Christianity and Roman religion.

I'm sure that most of you are familiar with Pascal's wager. It proves that atheism is a gamble not worth taking. If the atheist is right, then when he dies he's just dead, and the Christian doesn't fare any worse for being wrong. If the atheist is wrong, however, then he will pay for it by burning in Hell for eternity while the Christian receives eternal bliss in Heaven.

The situation can be summed up by the following chart, showing the payoffs of the two beliefs compared to the truth or falsehood of those beliefs.

As you can see, the atheist gains nothing by being right, and the Christian loses nothing by being wrong. You would have to be really bad at math to think there is any benefit to atheism.

Hello, RoccoJustAName, and welcome to the Landover Baptist Church. You haven't yet said why you are an atheist, so it's probably the usual excuse, you want to sin but not be punished for it.

The bad news is that, atheist or not, God will judge you for your sins, and you're currently on a path to eternal damnation in the lake of fire. The good news is that, if you'll let Him, Jesus will wash those sins away and let you spend an eternity with good people like us. As God's favorite church™, we're in a unique position to help you see the Truth that is contained in God's Word, the Holy Bible, if only you're willing to look for it.

It remains to be seen whether we will like you, and vice-versa. But Jesus told us to love our neighbor, and even to love our enemies, so we love you. Who knows, you might even find a spiritual home here with us. That has happened with atheists before.
