wow, thanks for such an amazing sermon on love! Funadamental in Gods nature, and really difficult for us to follow through on!
Wow, I love youre use of Bible quotes on here. Sometimes people don't back themselves up with a Bible quote or a bit of well known knowladge, and you wonder where it came from!

At the time Jesus said these exact word, "The Law" was all of what we now know should have been called the "Old Testament." Jesus makes it VERY CLEAR that the law doesn't change just because he has shown up."Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Matthew 5:17-18
Most sissy-liberal Christians conveniently skip this part. Why? Because it makes life inconvenient for them. Well, we simply think our our faith in God and JESUS CHRIST is more important than any inconvenience it causes us.
How is that wrong?

i thinks it betterer to give a bible than to give foods to poor folks cuz if they reads the bible an get saveds then they gonna stay saveds, cuz they will starves to death real quick, an then they go to heavens.
but if you gives them a bible an also some foods then they live longers an maybee they backslides away from lord God cuz they gots more time to thinks themselfs outta salvations.

Re: A Warm Greeting To All!
I try not to rebuke people twice. The Bible says that if people don't listen the first time, they won't listen any other time, but I'd like to set this straight.Originally posted by Brother Temperance View PostThank you and welcome, my oddly-named friend.
The Lord also commands us to hate. Lots of times.
2 Chronicles 19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
Psalm 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Psalm 139:21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
And it's not just the Old Testament that commands us to hate:
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
No True Christian would persecute another Christian. Anyone who would do that is clearly a false "Christian", so we're justified in hating and brutally destroying them.
Um, no it doesn't. That's not true. Again,
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Yes, and if we were so blasphemous and disrespectful as to replace some of the words in Matthew 3:16 (God forgive me for this act), we get the following:
And Jesus, when he was gelatinous, went up straightway out of the milk: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of Marcel Proust descending like a flying bear that breathes fire, and lighting upon him.
See, anyone can distort God's word to produce nonsense. It doesn't make it a good idea.
Jesus knows everyone, blasphemer.
Psalms talks about fools a lot. Do you think the author of Psalms is burning in Hell?
Proverbs 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
We call people fools out of Christian Love, to save them from Hell.
Jesus walked on water and turned it into wine. I couldn't do that either.
No, I don't know that, because it's not true. Would you care to provide scriptural proof for your lying assertion which is not true?
Are you familiar with Jesus' teaching on "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God" (1 John 3:9) and "we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" (1 Corinthians 6:3)?
No, I'd preach to him to get him to accept Jesus into his heart. If he refused to listen to reason, I'd slap him around a bit for his own good. If that didn't help, I'd take his wallet to donate to God's work and kick him again for being stubborn.
Yes, the entire world of true believers. There may be a few outside Landover, but we have yet to find them.
I love you too, friend (not in a gay way though), and will be praying that you repent of your blasphemies and actually read the Bible and become a proper Christian.
Yours in Christ,
Temperance
I agree with your point about no true follower killing another Christian. That was the point I was making.
As for replacing words. The words I was replacing with were eexamples of persecutors and the likes. It wasn't replacing original scripture, as it was simply an explanation.
As for the Jesus knowing everyone, read the parable of the ten virgins.
The obvious exception to calling people a fool is when it's Biblical and "by God". As we are now in the year of the Lord, the new law (Jesus') is what we obey, which says do not call anyone a fool.

Not to sound like I'm boasting, but I've read the Bible three times through this year. I love it, and can't get enough of it. I try to spend 1/12th of my life reading the Bible, that's two hours a day. I certainly have read the entire Bible. If that comes as a shock to you, you clearly aren't ready yours enough, as everything I've said comes from it. I know the implications, but the message of the Bible is one of love. Thank you and welcome, my oddly-named friend.Originally posted by toxic-inferno View PostFirstly, I'd like to congratulate you on your large community. It's really nice to see a large group of believers getting together and encouraging one another. Furthermore, I see you have some very interesting Bible studies. As a fellow lover of the Bible, I must say I'm impressed, as far too often these days, I see church communities where the Bible is an extra addition, and only brought out when everything else fails. It's fundamental that we remember the word of our Almighty Father and His Son, through the Holy Ghost.
The Lord also commands us to hate. Lots of times. It's also good to see that you appear to have such passion and love for fellow believers, again something that is vital, for as in Mark 3:24:
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
And also in John 13:35:
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Undoubtedly, you've read in the scriptures that love is of such huge importance. We read:
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
In 1 John 4:16.
Now please, brothers and sisters, understand this. If we claim to follow Christ Crucified, we must be in love. For us to dwell in God, and for God to dwell in us, we must first dwell in love.
Now, what does it mean to dwell in love? Jesus Christ himself in Matthew 5:44:
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
I have heard that you have much hatred within this particular forum for certain groups of people, such as Muslims, Athiests, and other Non-Christian groups. Now, while these groups are, by this verse in Matthew, considered our "enemies", and moreover, very often they make themselves our enemies, that we are not to show hatred to them. We are not to hate them back. We are to love them. To pray for them lovingly, and to bless them.
Let's skip on a few verses to verse 47:
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
How can you possibly justify hatred? We should love those people who hate us.
2 Chronicles 19:2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.

Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
We should remember that the group who persecutes Christians the fifth most is OTHER CHRISTIANS. Other people, who claim to be followers of Christ, but are clearly without love.
No True Christian would persecute another Christian. Anyone who would do that is clearly a false "Christian", so we're justified in hating and brutally destroying them.
Um, no it doesn't. That's not true. Again,If we, as followers of Christ are without love, we are simply making a lot of noise. Unnecessary noise. If a person has true love, they are not loving to some people, and yet hate others. That would mean they are inconsistent with their own teaching.
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Yes, and if we were so blasphemous and disrespectful as to replace some of the words in Matthew 3:16 (God forgive me for this act), we get the following:No doubt you'll pick me up on this, but if we replace the words for enemies in Matthew 5:44, we basically get the following:

Did not even Jesus eat with prostitutes. He spent time with the labelled scum of that day. Could you do that?)
No, I don't know that, because it's not true. Would you care to provide scriptural proof for your lying assertion which is not true?Let's talk prostitutes for a second. You know most of them are born into it?
Are you familiar with Jesus' teaching on "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God" (1 John 3:9) and "we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" (1 Corinthians 6:3)?Are you not familiar with Jesus' teaching on "whoever is without sin throw the first stone"? Don't judge lest ye be judged. Sound familiar? It's there in that book that we've been given from God.
No, I'd preach to him to get him to accept Jesus into his heart. If he refused to listen to reason, I'd slap him around a bit for his own good. If that didn't help, I'd take his wallet to donate to God's work and kick him again for being stubborn.Do you know Jesus Christ? I do, and I know a large group of truly loving believers, who will do anything to help people. They genuinely love people. They wouldn't see a man dying in a street, and first have to find out if he is a Christian or not, before they decide whether they should help him. Would you honestly leave a Muslim bleeding to death? I know I could not, and neither could Jesus.
Yes, the entire world of true believers. There may be a few outside Landover, but we have yet to find them. You might claim I don't know the "true" Jesus. I don't know "YOUR" Jesus (Cos apparently you're YOUR Jesus' favourite church... when'd he tell you that? As I see it, his favourite church is his bride, the united church of the entire world of true believers... but anyway...)
I love you too, friend (not in a gay way though), and will be praying that you repent of your blasphemies and actually read the Bible and become a proper Christian.but by the looks of things, "your" Jesus has no true power. The Jesus I know works miracles in the lives of those around me. I see healings and absolutely radical miracles weekly. Now, before you label me a "witch", I'd liek to point out I believe in witchcraft, and I believe it is serious and damaging, however you have nothing to fear in me, I am in no way a witch.
Now, I'd like to conclude as I started. Unfortunately, I cannot. You probably cannot understand how I love you. I say these things out of love for you, and our of love for Almighty God. I shall be praying for you.
God Bless you all.
Lots of love,

Let's talk prostitutes for a second. You know most of them are born into it? They're not given the chance for anything else. We're supposed to rescue them from that, not condemn them to hell.
Are you not familiar with Jesus' teaching on "whoever is without sin throw the first stone"? Don't judge lest ye be judged. Sound familiar? It's there in that book that we've been given from God.
Do you know Jesus Christ? I do, and I know a large group of truly loving believers, who will do anything to help people. They genuinely love people. They wouldn't see a man dying in a street, and first have to find out if he is a Christian or not, before they decide whether they should help him. Would you honestly leave a Muslim bleeding to death? I know I could not, and neither could Jesus.
You might claim I don't know the "true" Jesus. I don't know "YOUR" Jesus (Cos apparently you're YOUR Jesus' favourite church... when'd he tell you that? As I see it, his favourite church is his bride, the united church of the entire world of true believers... but anyway...), but by the looks of things, "your" Jesus has no true power.

A Warm Greeting To All!
Dear friends!
I was given a link to this website by a fellow believer, and thought I'd take a look.
Firstly, I'd like to congratulate you on your large community.
We should remember that the group who persecutes Christians the fifth most is OTHER CHRISTIANS. Other people, who claim to be followers of Christ, but are clearly without love. 1 Corinthians 13:1:
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
If we, as followers of Christ are without love, we are simply making a lot of noise. Unnecessary noise. If a person has true love, they are not loving to some people, and yet hate others. That would mean they are inconsistent with their own teaching.
No doubt you'll pick me up on this, but if we replace the words for enemies in Matthew 5:44, we basically get the following:
But I say unto you, Love the athiests, bless the Muslims, do good to the unsaved, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
Do you not see? You may claim to love the Bible, you may claim to love Jesus, but if you do not love even the least of humankind, Jesus doesn't even know you. Jesus says that even calling somebody a fool is deserving of the fires of hell, and that unless we change our ways, we are not saved.
I am not the one to pass judgement on you. Jesus is the one who'll do that, but if you're not loving everybody, even those you label "scum", you're in danger. (I've seen it, some of you label anybody who isn't labelled a Christian, as scum. Did not even Jesus eat with prostitutes. He spent time with the labelled scum of that day. Could you do that?)
