Can you please cite scripture that does away with Deut. 22, then? I really find it upsetting that we have to follow it, but I have YET to find anything that does away with it. If you aer a True Christian™ I know you will help me out.

that said, I think that you just like to call yourself a Christian for some reason. Perhaps it makes you gfeel warm and fuzzy. perhaps you just like teh inst-community it gives you. Perhaps you don't want to upset your parents. Whatever the reason it is NOT becuase you think that teh Bible is the inerrent word of God. Right?

So what if you are offended by things you see here? Are you going to turn your life around because we are offended by you? No, of course not. Do you think you will make an intelligent impression by insulting people? Not likely.

What you find offensive is the knowledge that there are some people who choose to not live decadent lifestyles and still be happier than you. You want everyone to be miserable so that you don't have to try to make your own life better.

When did I ever say that I lived a miserable life or was not content? I do not see how I offend, all of the listed points in my previous post were taken directly from previous threads on this forum. I simply wonder how a society can believe in the Bible so literally that a distressed woman is forced to marry their rapist. And it is not that I don't believe in the Bible, I am a Christian- just not a fanatic.

Your argument is a well-known atheist one. It goes like this: "If nothing can come out of nothing and everything must have been created, then God must have a creator too. And the creator of God must also have one. Thus there is an infinite stack of creators, which is impossible. Thus, logically, God cannot exist."

The standard answer to this is that God has always existed without a beginning and without an end, not subject to the laws of the material universe or logic that rule the mechanics of the universe.

Christians do not believe in a finite God, thus an infinite stack of creators would not be a logical issue, even if we agreed that logic is valid outside the universe as well.

Although on the surface it is an interesting angle, it will not work with Christians as it requires a finite God and an extrapolation of logic beyond the bounds of the universe.

In physics and any other scientific discipline where mathematical formulas are used to model physical reality, they each come with their own set of conditions where they are accurate. Newtonian Physics, for example, is very accurate for most situations. But as soon as the speed approaches the speed of light, the situation changes entirely. In fact, we get into a state where your mass increases and your time decreases as your speed increases. How weird and counter-intuitive is that?

Similarly, we can argue: why would we expect logic that works on Earth also work under completely different conditions? In a sense, we would have to expect the unexpected in this regard as it would follow the same pattern.

This does not prove existence or non-existence of a God, but may help understand why seemingly straightforward logic is not that inescapable when we extrapolate to a cosmic scale (and beyond).

If this is the way you're trying to save somebody, by silencing him, I can't find any resemblance of what I perceive as humanity here. I was just looking for rational answers, which it seems that are hard to get around here.

Hold on there, son. Just calm down. Take some deep breaths, have your wife go and make you your favorite pie (mine's pecan, FYI ). Once you have had a slice and downed it with a nice glass milk, why don't you sit down for a while with the KJV 1611 and read it cover to cover. Once you've finished, get a good night's rest, and then come back and talk to us.
