I was raised in the great state of Georgia and in Georgia many of us are raised to respect women . We are equal. It is very wrong for a man to hit a woman. Also a woman is not property if you are married to her. She is your life partner, she is the bearer of your children, she is the love of your life. I would never hit my wife. If I disagreed with her I would talk to her like a civilised person would.

I'm very happy about an event last night...
I was finishing up a spaghetti (some silly Italian "food" that my husband wanted, but it was the man's orders) Apparently, I had gotten the wrong sauce. He wanted meat sauce, but I bought mushroom sauce since it was cheaper (I could save more for tithes and lighting bills so I could properly see my bible) and the two sauces looked exactly the same. Well, my husband noticed and he beat me so hard, I ended up in the hospital! I was smiling along the way because I knew my husband loved me and I learned a lesson or two as well. The funny thing is, the hospital bill cost much more money than the meat sauce!

Note to anyone else reading this: I am NOT condoning nor do I share the beliefs (or misogynistic attitude they engender) I am affecting here. It is solely for the purposes of discovering what, if any, Scriptural "justification" this person will claim.

Where do you get off refusing to accept Jesus? That's the bigger question.

Unequally-yoked women are expected to convert their unbelieving husbands without words.

1 Pet 3:1-2 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Their actions at home must be enough. What stone-hearted atheist could resist the Gospel if his wife was suddenly afraid of him and started doing everything he said without arguing?

I Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. KJV

The passage you quoted does not require you to say "yes sir" but rather prohibits speech altogether.

I agree with certain ideas in the Bible, like the idea of love and forgiveness. I don't agree with all the hate, murder, rape, and oppression in the Bible. I only agree with the ideas. Frankly, I don't understand how the Bible can talk about love and forgiveness one minute, then preach rape and murder the next. We pick and choose what we believe in all the time as far as morality goes, but I don't get my morality from the Bible. SOME of my morals are found in the Bible, however. Like love, being kind to others, being compassionate, and forgiveness.

You don't have any children, do you? You see, children, much like the people back in the Old Testament Days, are morally feral (Proverbs 22:15; Hebrews 12:7). They pick up whatever may seem to work, whatever advances their own desires. They quite literally need sense beaten into them. You may think that sounds awful, but the truth is, a Jew, like a child, doesn't understand the need for forgiveness without punishment. If there is no punishment involved, the Jew, like a child, will think everything is just fine, competely unaware of the offense they've given. These are two sides to the same coin, dear, Mercy and Justice.
