    Hi there

    Hello,

My name is Michael, I'm a catholic priest, 70 years old, a virgin, and... I feel that I've wasted a great many years of my life.

I'm looking for help so that as my life comes to a close, I can feel that I've served God in the right way... because I don't feel that way now.

    What can I do?

    My favorite passage is:

    Isaiah 40:11

He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
    and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.

    Re: Hi there

Sorry your intro thread was missed, for that I apologize on behalf of the entire Church.

I am a bit confused. In your first line you state:
    ... I'm a catholic priest, 70 years old, a virgin...
As far as I know, raping altar boys is considered sex, though never having done it myself, I cannot be positive.

You are going to find yo have a problem here:
....as my life comes to a close, I can feel that I've served God in the right way... because I don't feel that way now...
You see, to repent your ring kissing, mary worshiping papist ways, you have to do it out of free will and not as a desperate last ditch attempt to avoid the fires of Hell. God sees this shallow ploy and while you may think you made it in the club, you will find the first job God assigns you is to go snipe hunting. In Hell.

All a real shame as you seem like a decent sort.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

      Hi Michael,

I looked up Isaiah 40:11 in my KJV, and it appears to be quite different than what you posted. Are you quoting from the koran, or Cosmopolitan, or possibly some other heathen periodical?

James, you've directly hit upon the source of my despair.

I would like to think I am a good person.

I have never molested any children, although ashamedly, I fully understand your statement.

It was (and possibly still is) a huge problem, which was conveniently ignored by cowards, criminals, church, and state... all demons of the most heinous kind.

I find I cannot maintain my faith like that.

My virginity is as a result of maintaining a celibate life since joining the priesthood in my teens.

        Now I wonder... why?
        What's the purpose of that?

I'm here to get a new perspective.
Maybe I will have a problem, but I guess time will tell.

Thank you for your thoughtful and uncomfortably honest reply, Michael.

A gentle suggestion: when quoting here at Landover, please find an online resource for the KJV. As you are already familiar with the actual book and verse, I recommend http://kjvbible.net/ to refresh your memory for the actual wording.

                Thank you.

I've heard myself described otherwise here, Michael, but I struggle to keep Luke 6:31 at the forefront of my social dialog on the internets:

"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise"

It's really quite simple, and yet so many want to make it some multi-layered chessboard with an icosahedron die and golden tassels and 3 kinds of mustard.

I could live 6000 years and not understand it.

Based on your comments here and elsewhere in the forum, I hope God does accept your repentance and allow you to spend eternity in Heaven. The best you (and anyone, for that matter) is to follow His Word)r) EXACTLY as define in the KJV and pray not too many errors are made on the Path to True Salvation(tm).
You seem sprightly, perhaps you can locate a fertile young lady to bear children for Jesus? I'll pray for your success.

The very first thing you should do is get hold of a real Bible, the 1611 King James Bible and renounce that heathen papist theology. Perhaps if you show improvement enough you might persuade a True Christian(tm) woman to marry you. It is still not too late. I've known several men your age that married. You should pray that God sends you a fertile woman young enough to bear your children. You have a long ways to go in producing soldiers for God. Brother James can give you a few pointers on popping them out in record time.
