As Brother COM said, sickness is a punishment from God for doing something wrong; we question His judgment whenever we try to heal ourselves or our loved ones. We need to place our trust in the LORD's ability to heal us, should He choose to. He is a jealous God, and He is not fond of having to compete with mere doctors.

God does not want us to be sick. Nothing could be further from the truth.

But just like a parent punishes a naughty child, God punishes us with sickness, whether it be a mere cold, a limb loss, retardation or gruesome death. In some instances, the punished did nothing wrong. A close loved one did and the punishment is seeing a loved one disfigured.

That is what the Bible says, correct.

Keep in mind that God has destroyed cities (Sodom and Gomorrah) and even flooded the entire earth because He was displeased.

The Bible does not leave much room for doubt that angering God is not very smart.

what would you say about genetic dissorders then? e.g. - a baby born with a deseise such as cystic-fybrosis, - how could a baby anger God before it has been born?

I have to concur with what Brother James has said.

As others have and will say, that is your right. But it does not change anything. But what you can do instead is live by the Bible, 110%, without deviation. If you and your family follow God's Word(tm) then you have nothing to worry about. Pretty simple way to get peace of mind if you ask me.

just one thing, may i point out a fact which i'm sure you perfectly well know - that the bible was not written by God, - it was written by people based on the teachings of jesus, so ofcourse, as with all christians, i belive in the principles, but unlike you, i do not take it word for word. times have changed, and i would sudgest that you do too.

None whatsoever. God makes that decision. However, I do know for a fact that God will not accept people into Heaven who built their house on sand instead of on a rock (see my signature for the passage).

Ah, let me clear that up: I have no right to make that decision on behalf of God. However, I can point out what the Bible says about people who do not follow the Bible: they will go to Hell.

I can tell you that if you jump out of a building, you will drop down. But do I have the right or ability to control gravity? No. Will you drop? Yes.
