  • Day 160. Psalm 26-30

    Psalm 26-30

    Psalm 26

1 Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

How many times do you hear people yelling "Don't Judge Me!!!"? When was the last time you heard someone beg you to judge them? Do you know who says "Don't Judge Me!!!" guilty people, that's who. Do you know who says "Judge Me!!!" innocent people, that's who. Which are you?

2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

    How do you "prove" something?

You beat on it until you are sure that it works. Like an enemy combatant who just won't tell you what you need to know, you have to go to extreme measures, if they don't give in after waterboarding, well, then they are proved.

4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

How do you get dirty? You hang around in dirt. How do you stay clean? You keep away from dirt.

5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

Love the sinner, hate the sin, I think not!

8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

Can I get an amen from the choir?

    Psalm 27

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

There's only one person/thing in all eternity you should be afraid of, and that's God. Nothing else has the ability to send you to eternal damnation.

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

    Enemies are losers!

4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

I don't want a pony, I just want to find the LORD, now why does he keep moving? He's not too up on the rules of hide and seek!

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

The LORD does not look like Alanis Morissette.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

I wonder who David is talking about?

    Psalm 28

2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

Mecca is not the holy oracle.

3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

This is the second verse today where the psalmist asks not to be gathered with the evildoers.

4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.

The LORD rewards people according to what they deserve.

    Psalm 29

1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Even though God is glory and strength, we need to give him ours.

4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Today's reading is very sensory. Seek, hear. Thankfully we don't have to sniff out the LORD. Moses saw his holy hindparts once.

11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

If you give God your strength (verse 1) he'll give you strength. Why would God need a starship?

    Psalm 30

1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

    Preach it brother.

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

At least, while he's remembering you.

12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Or at least as long as I'm breathing, Can/WILL you say the same?

So what have we learned today?

    1. Seek ye the LORD, it's easiest to follow his really LOUD voice.

    2. Keep away from sinners.

    3. The clean people don't mind being judged, do you?

Thank you brother V! You're doing a wonderful job.
    Matthew:
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Guilty people who think they've hidden or destroyed all the evidence against them might say it too, but only a fool would think he could hide something from God.

I wonder who David is talking about?
He's talking about King Saul's advisors, who were had been telling him that David was seeking to usurp the throne.

1Sam 24:9 And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?

      The voice of the Lord

Psalm 29 describes something David that refers to as the "voice of the Lord".

3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Thunder is the voice of the Lord. When you hear thunder rumbling, it means that God is not happy about something. Have you ever noticed how dogs react to thunder? Mine hide under the furniture. They know.

Upon request I will cite scripture for all these facts in God's Holy Word.
