Perhaps you could rename this thread with something along the lines of "Reclaiming Godly Words"? There certainly are more words out there that could use reclaiming. Why, off the top of my head I can think of another word for a rooster and a name for a small cat that have been destroyed by perverts and Sodomites.

I agree...
On our land we have a small system of ponds and small lakes on which we depend for fish and fowl.
These are in part constructed and rely on a system of small damns and bunds to retain the necessary water where needed , atop of useless ground rather than more productive areas.
Those bunds and damns need regular maintenance.
I feel physically sick every time I have to announce at work allocation meetings that myself or some other has to go
'plug the big old dyke'.
That's not right.
I should be able to say it, as it is, without risking being translated as some kind of pervert.

Same goes for other words.
Why , one day I was in the village and I used a word for hunting with hounds and gun that has been used round here for hundreds of years.
For some reason a bunch of youngers had a serious chuckle-fest when I said I was going dogging that night.
Now I still don't know what was so funny, but I suspect it was to do with meaning that is now attached to words that meant something else.
Similar thing happened when a few of us were about some repairs to a few of the small houses scattered about the farms.
We were picking up timber, cement, etc in town and when the storeman asked what we about we told him we were upto a bit of cottaging, which has always meant repair and upkeep of farm cottages.
Again I don't know what, but I am guessing it means some thing else from the way the townies laughed.
