I knew there was something rotten in Iowa when the Freehold council voted to put annexing parts of Des Moines on its ballot. With the recent housing downturn, the tax base became worthless. It's mostly low cost residential housing. The city was desperate to unload the land that was losing money.
Mitch Mitchell was threatening to veto the measure as he didn't want to go along with certain people to condemn the land and take it from these people piecemeal under the guise of "township security forces".
It is my opinion that these elements conspired to silence the only opposition to proposed land grab.
By the time the vote came in, I knew it was "in the bag." They had put together a slick advertising campaign telling Freehold residents to "look to the future," while the spokespeople for the opposition were wild eyed African Americans edited to look foolish.
These same people are building chain link and barbed wire fences under some shady guise on land formerly owned by people who owned acreage. Their continued encroachment threatens the poor people who depend on this land to make ends meet.
Instead of starting all the supposed development they promised, they have put black SUV's all over the area to keep people away from the fences.
Some people are seeing strange lights that seem to go up the outer space. Some have claimed to see people in hazmat suits with equipment testing their land.
The only way to stop this nightmare is a strong candidate who has pledged to get to the bottom of the problem. The only one who is working to get fair compensation for the residents of former Des Moines for their land.
That man is Alfred King. I hope you'll join me in standing up to the Fundie Mafia who have run this town for too long now!!
