  • Ultrasounds - A Blessing?

With Mrs. Christ's current pregnancy she was whining about something or other. Pain or something. So I broke down and took her to the doctor who performed an ultrasound. Much to my dismay the the child is female. Of course Mrs. Christ was properly admonished and punished.

But I do see a silver lining to this. In this time of economic crisis I believe I will be saving quite a bit of money.

First, if it was a boy child, I would have to put an addition on the house. The wife shares the basement with my two daughters and there is room for one more. But my four boys have their own rooms and I would definitely need to add another for a new son.

Second, I will save on hospital fees. Who needs doctors and hospitals for a girl birthing? For a boy I understand. I'd have a team of doctors on call at all times and the best hospital room.

And third, I believe this will bring the family much closer. Certainly the two girls can help their mother birth one of their own. At 6 and 8 of age they are more than capable to help (and clean up the mess afterward). Even the boys are getting involved. They built Mrs. Christ her very own whelping box right next to her cot.

So overall I would say getting an ultrasound is a good thing. Whether it's needed or not.

Deuteronomy 7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

Plus, you only have to feed a woman like every other day or so, while a man needs three squares a day. Not to mention all the pies there will be baking around the clock.

Very true Brother Jenkins. The main reason I choose the basement over the barn for The Christ women is that it is closer to the kitchen. And we store preserves for the pies down there too. A win win situation.

        A sensible solution, Mark.

Tell me - where did you get that gorgeous china gun in the picture below your post? I'd love to get one of those to hang on my wall. And they'd make perfect birthday presents for my friends.

I might suggest in other cases, if the pregnancy is under suspicion of being sinister, such as a priest attempting to spawn a demon, the ultrasound could reveal horns, hooves, a tail, whatever, in time to protect the righteous Christian Sons of Adam from further diabolical attack.
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

The pain she was feeling was the fact she is carrying yet another girl. Girls cause all kind of problems after they are born so it only stands to reason and logic the same will be the case during pregnancy.
From what I have heard, there are never complications or issues early on when it is a male child.

You certainly make some good points and at least the girl children have been trained up to do the necessary work in this situation.

I worry about your sons though. Are you raising them to be a little "soft", Brother? Why does this new thing being born need a box of its own? Why not get the girls just to drag over a chest of drawers whilst their pies are baking in the oven. The new baby can sleep in there.

            YIC,

            Mrs.P.Wintersnow.

            There's Jesus here,
Just see what He offers me....
            Down here my sins forgiven,
Up there a home in heaven
Praise God, That's the way for me!!

The boys, bless their hearts, wisely understood what a waste of a good drawer that would be. And you know those stains never come out of the basement cement floor. So they took the old lumber from our last hen house and fashioned a wonderful box. This way the hay lining the bottom will catch all the mess and we can have a wonderful bonfire after it's all over.

I picked that up at the church's holiday craft fare. I'm not sure if you can get them anywhere.

I suspect he is one of those hippy liberal types. But he does have some nice work. His most famous is this fine piece of art:
