  • Australia goes to the polls 21st August

Because of compulsory voting in Australia even women have to vote by law.

But Daddy is yet to tell me who to vote for.

In fact he is really tearing his hair out this election.

Kinda a case of having to vote for the least ungodly rather than for the most Godly.

I am wondering whether any of the Pastors here might have any advice.

When ever there is no-one to vote for, do the Aussie thing.

    1. Get your name ticked off for attending
    2. Cross out the top name and write Paul Hogan
    3. Number the boxes downwards starting from 1
    4. Place you vote in the voting box.

This will ensure that you will not be fined and you vote is invalid

Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

Gay marriage gets daytime TV tick on The Circle with Bob Brown

      • From: AAP
      • July 21, 2010 3:03PM

GREENS leader Bob Brown has taken his campaign for gay marriage into the lounge rooms of middle Australia - and earned a big round of applause.

Senator Brown talked of his same-sex relationship on The Circle, a popular mid-morning TV program on Channel 10.

Sitting on a sofa in front of a studio audience, the Tasmanian senator said he was "totally in favour" of gay marriage.

"I've got a terrific partner Paul, it's a bit far down the line for us to be worried about it," the 65-year-old said.

"But I see young people who want to express their love for each other through a marriage ceremony."

Both Labor and the Liberals oppose same-sex marriage, but Senator Brown said the major parties "should come into this century and catch up". This won a strong round of applause from the mainly female studio audience, and one of the hosts responded with: "well said".

Politicians have a history of trying to broaden their appeal by appearing on commercial television, with former treasurer Peter Costello famously performing the Macarena with Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott will appear on Hey Hey It's Saturday tonight.

The Greens are polling well and are poised to win the balance of power in the Senate, and possibly historic lower house seats. Whether they can broaden their support into the mainstream will be seen on election day.
"The Greens are very responsible, we're economically literate, and we are prepared to negotiate," was the way Senator Brown pitched his party to daytime TV viewers.

The Greens and Labor have done a deal to share preferences in some key seats, but Senator Brown urged viewers to choose their own preferences by voting below the line.

One of the hosts said a lot of people did not have time to fill out all the boxes but Senator Brown replied "of course they do".

"If you get a bit mixed up and you get the numbers wrong, go and get a new paper," he said.

Senator Brown referred to his previous job as a GP several times on the family-friendly program, and also talked up his ability to cook bananas with brandy cream - which earned an invitation to come back on and prepare it.

It seems Australia needs to boycott gay marriage. Why are there no cold hearted Republicans in Australia?

Australia is a God forsaken place when it comes to political parties. There are no Republicans or conservatives, there is only the Labor / Socialists / Communists and the LIEbrals that dominate their politics. Given that they are in the Southern hemisphere and the water in their toilets spins backwards, I wouldn't be surprised that their Crucifixes are upside down – that is if they even have any.

Family First seeks preferences deal with Australian Sex Party

CONSERVATIVE "family values" party Family First has approached the Australian Sex Party - which advocates gay marriage, prostitution and abortion - for a preference deal in the federal election.

Launching the Australian Sex Party's South Australian campaign in Adelaide yesterday, president Fiona Patten said she was stunned when an adviser to Family First's leader, Senator Steve Fielding, phoned her and made the proposal.

Ms Patten said her party was not interested in dealing with Family First, which she said represented the worst aspects of conservative Australia.
Founded by South Australian Pentecostal minister Andrew Evans, Family First touts itself as a pro-family party.

It is opposed to gay marriage and gay civil unions as well as abortion, prostitution and pornography.

It also supported the Government's controversial internet-filtering policy.

The Australian Sex Party is at the other end of the political spectrum, supporting gay marriage, euthanasia and abortion. It also wants to remove religion from Australian politics.

Ms Patten said Family First's proposition for the two parties to preference each other above the major parties was laughable and had been knocked back.

"I don't believe we have a single common place to go to on anything," she said. "It was really just them trying to grasp at what they thought was possibly a strong vote for us and hypocritically get in on our coat-tails. Frankly we just couldn't go there.

Be careful of the Family First party. They say they promote family values. It is not True Christian family values they are promoting. It is the devils family values they are lusting after.

All I can say is I am very glad that I will not be in Australia for this election and frankly, I don't even mind being FINED for not lodging a postal vote.

I refuse to vote for a feminazi, commie, atheist, OR some wing-nut papist and apart from those options, we have a gay GREENIE and genuine Christians (family first) with their hats in the ring for preference votes.

It will be the first time I will have flouted "the law of the land" but my conscience leaves me no other option.

Gee, I wish Pauline Hanson was still in politics as at least it would have been a viable option! Sure, she is a wranger and all and not (that I know of anyway) a True Christian, but I sure did like her many fair policies as to abo's, chinks and other assorted boat people.

I hope Canada welcomes her with open arms as she would be quite an asset there.

They fine you for not voting? If voting is (supposed to be) anonymous, how do they know whether you voted or not? This smells very suspicious.

Yes they do! By law in Australia, voting is mandatory.

It is an anonymous vote though as ones name is not ON the voting slips. You just are on an electoral role and when you go to vote, you give your name at the reception area and they cross your name off as having attended.

And so they should! She WILL be a wonderful asset indeed! She also cooks up a mean batch of fish and chips, so that was probably the extra asset that tipped her immigration application over the edge!

Oh Sister, I whole-heartedly agree!! That was certainly a day ALL Australians should be proud of and look to as example of God inspired STRENGTH!!

I think that the below verses from Psalms, Chapter 18, sum up the wonderful Ms Hansons life to a tee( including her time in secular bondage) and perhaps even show as prophesy to her new life NOW.

15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

24 Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

                            25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.
