Brothers and Cistern, I know you'll want to join me at 8:15 am tomorrow morning for 57 seconds of silence in honor of Paul Tibbets, a True American™ who passed away today. Our moment of silence will conclude when Sister Thumper releases a bevy of white doves from the Church portico. It'll be a moving sight, and I know many of you will be there to personally express the love we all feel for this man.
Paul Tibbets, of course, was the noble young American who piloted the Enola Gay on August 6, 1945. If it hadn't been for Tibbets' expert skill and patriotism, we'd probably all be gashoing to a Japanese overlord and suffering from the terminal kensho that so often afflicts Westerners who, by conscription (or otherwise), attempt to adopt Japanese ways. But, mercifully, Paul Tibbets piloted the plane and -- I believe -- personally hurled "Little Boy" upon that city of Yellow-Monkey sub-humans, Hiroshima. A tear is welling in my eye, just realizing that the world has lost Paul Tibbets, the perfect model of American spirit, character and purpose.
