Tangled-Turning Rapunzel into a Feminazi Slut!

My husband and I were looking for good, Christian movies for our young children to watch, and we stumbled across the movie Tangled. Since it featured a long-haired, modestly dressed woman, we were hopeful, but since it is a Disney movie, my husband decided to watch it, just in case.

I haven't seen the movie, my husband didn't want to expose my delicate mind to such corruption, but he has explained the plot to me and I've found screenshots to back it up.

The movie starts off innocently enough. A young woman with a modest dress stays in her tower, like a good girl, cooking, sewing, and cleaning.




See what a sweet girl she is? Don't be fooled, fellow Christians!

Soon, she meets a boy, and gives in to her wicked hormonal temptations!



Bondage! How could it get any worse?

But it does get worse! At the end of the movie, Rapunzel chops off her hair, like some butch lezbo!



She went from being a good little lady to a short-haired, butch demon!

The consequences of her actions are obvious: She loses the healing power that God gave her. Mark 16:18

Don't be fooled, fellow Christians!

Satan made this movie seem innocent in order to lure us into viewing it!

Sister, I had the same reaction. My kids asked me to rent this for them, and unfortunately I only skimmed the description. I must admit, the idea of an unruly child being banished to a tower appealed mightily to me, so I picked it up.

BIG mistake.

Little did I know that she would end up being a total whore who went on a date with a man WITHOUT A CHAPERONE.

Sister, I had the same reaction. My kids asked me to rent this for them, and unfortunately I only skimmed the description. I must admit, the idea of an unruly child being banished to a tower appealed mightily to me, so I picked it up.

That's what my husband and I thought too. We thought it'd be a great way to show our children what would happen to them if they're bad. How mistaken we were.

BIG mistake.

A terrible thing, brother in Christ. From what my husband's told me of the movie, I feel sorry for her poor mother. She tries to keep the girl away from bad influences, and what does she get in return? Her daughter defies her and runs off with a boy, like some cheap skank!

I agree. This movie does nothing but cause division in families. The song "Mother knows best" is something I sing to my children but this movie makes the mother appear positively insane. Besides, divisiveness in families is not Disney's job, it is Jesus' job.

Exactly, sister! Now, if Jesus had come to Rapunzel and told her to leave her mother, it'd be another manner entirely. But when it's a non-Christian boy, it makes my heart sad. Who does he think he is, trying to divide families when that's the Lord's job!

ok i gotta say, have any of you actually looked up the real plot for this movie, i personally have watched it, and guess what, the " mother" your all talking about is actually a evil witch who stole the daughter to use her gift to her advantage to keep her young, and at the end of the movie the boy ends up reuniting the daughter with her real mother and father, so before you all just assume you know whats going on, look it up.

Honestly people its a Disney Movie. It has great lessons about following your dreams and being true to who you are and sticking by your beliefs. I for one would have thought It would be perfect for you guys. But no, because she (as an adult) leaves her abusive parental figure and finds her birth parents and gives up her hair to save a life (and who cares if her hair is short) its the devil. Oh wait I remember now It encourages independent thought. cant have that can we now?

ok that was out of context, if you're going to debate me please stick to the subject at hand. My original point was that it shows a woman thinking for herself and I suggested that it would be undesirable for many people who frequent these fourms. A concept which I do not understand.

yes I did, the OP did make reference to homosexuality equating a short hair cut to being a lesbian (something for which there is no correlation)

Some people who are lesbians have short hair
Some people who are lesbians have long hair
Some heterosexual people have short hair
Some heterosexual people have long hair

However my point was the movie itself has no reference to homosexuality.

The main character is actually straight, In the end she married the male protagonist.

And a legitimate question here. Do you automatically assume any woman who act as the main protagonist/is not subservient as a lesbian? Is there any scenario where a woman can be portrayed as being strong or as the hero without it being seen negatively?
