While researching for my thread about talking animals, I stumbled over the talking turtle:
Song of Solomon 2:12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
Now, I'm fully aware that a lot of FALSE Christians will tell me that "turtle" doesn't mean "turtle" and give me a Clintonesque lecture about what the meaning of "is" is. To these scoffers I have two words: Omniscience and omnipotence.
God is omniscient i.e. all-knowing. When He gave you and me His Word (KJV1611 Authorized version) He knew full well what His Word meant and what it was going to mean in all future. God is "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Hebrews 13:8) -- and so is His Word.
God is omnipotent i.e. all-powerful. For example: God could decide that turtles should be called "electric toasters" instead -- and then in the twinkling of an eye He could update all Bibles in the World to read "the voice of the electric toaster is heard in our land". That's what omnipotence means. God could do it, and we would have no way of knowing it. And for all we know, He already may have done so.
I know the above example with the toaster is a bit silly, but that's exactly the point: To show how silly these scoffers are. Tell them about the talking snake and donkey, and they'll be all Alleluia and Amen. Tell them about the talking turtle, and their knees start trembling, their faith grow weak, and they'll give you the full Bill Clinton.
GLORY! I think I'll contact Pastor Deacon Fred, so he can make an amendment to his splendid treatise: Donkeys Can Talk, People Can Fly, And A Man Named Jesus Lives Up In The Sky!
