  • My favorite verses

I really enjoy the whole book of Revelation, but chapter 20 is my favorite. It describes how the false prophet and Satan will be cast into the fires of Hell to burn:

10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Can't you just imagine that! It gladdens me to know that I will be judged for my hard work, as is seen in my second favorite verses from this glorious book:

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

These verses remind me of my childhood, good times! I remember my father telling me, "Eugene, work hard, read the Good Book and love Jesus as you love your Mother and I, and you'll be alright."
A baby is a human being, not a stem cell!

    Psalm 139:19-20
Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

1 Timothy 2:13-15 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

I was reading Psalm 128, and I especially liked these verses.

1Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
2For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
3Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
4Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

Fear the Lord, and you will be blessed. Hallelujah!

What a wonderful picture of Christian life: A fertile wife and above-average children. A True Christian(tm) man couldn't ask for anything more. Except perhaps for a permanent reduction in the tax rates on capital gains, dividends and estates; a cut in the top income-tax rate and the corporate-tax rate; and the abolition of the alternative minimum tax on individuals. One can dream, I suppose.

You're a weird one, Peter. One minute you seem like a raving atheist, then you show up here with favorite verses and a healthy strange belief in Jesus.

My favorite verses are in the Book of Numbers, when tells Moses to kill all male 'little ones' and give all young girls to the soldiers... But not before sacrificing 32 of them to himself.

                  Verses:

                  1; 7; 17; 18; 28; 29; 35; 40; 41

                  Gotta love it
The first of the fallen, the one they call the desolate one...
