  • Favorite verse: 2 Kings 2: 23,24

2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
The moral of this story? Make fun of a bald man and children will be ripped to shreds by bears.

But, remember, God does this out of love.

And instruction. Don't forget instruction. A parent must discipline a child for their own good, no matter how much it grieves them.

No, the moral is make fun of God's servants and you'll be ripped to shreds by bears. I think it's a moral you should spend some time contemplating.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Uhm, yeah, ok, I live in the middle of Oklahoma City. The only bears around here live at the zoo and I never go there.

I thought you sodomites were all about the "bears".

1 Timothy 2:13-15 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

1- I date straight men. And, unfortunately, not too many straight men are able to overlook one less than feminine piece of my anatomy

2- I prefer to date men who are less than "bearly." If I'm not mistaken, "bears" refers to men with alot of body hair. I prefer a smooth or semi-smooth chest.

It's something my husband, Mr. Whitford, told me about in one of his lessons on sodomite identification. You don't want to know, Pastor.

Why is this grim reminder of the force of God in the old testament your favourite verse?
