    It's Miracle Time!!

We're all familiar with the wedding party miracle when Jesus' mother Mary noticed they were out of wine. To paraphrase : Mary said "Jesus Christ we're out of wine ... It's Miracle Time!!

Now many Christians take offense at this Biblical proof (pun intended) that our Bible personages partook of alcohol. Many say that wine in Biblical days was merely grape juice and not the stuff with the kick in that we call wine today. I think it really was wine like we know it today, but what I think doesn't matter one iota. What does matter is what

    THE BIBLE SAYS

    John 2:1-11 (King James Version)

    John 2

1And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Let's examine verse 10 in detail because it presents some pretty strong evidence that what they were swilling at the reception was indeed wine.
The feast governor compliments the bridegroom by telling him that unlike some low-life cheapskates that serve a good first glass or two of the good stuff, then after everyone is a little tipsy, breaks out the Boone's Farm or Thunderbird.... The bridegroom has saved the good stuff for the last.

Brethren I don't know about you, but my 4th glass of Welch's grape juice tastes pretty much the same as the first.

Further proof that Biblical wine was the same as today's wine can be found in the Story of Lot and his Daughters Genesis 19:31-38
The girls didn't get Lot out of his mind with grape juice to boink his eyes out. They got him blitzed to the point that he didn't know if he or they were coming or going ... or both at the same time!!

    So Sayeth the Lord!!!

Yea Verily, Hallelujah Amen!! .... Cheers!!
    Nahum 1:2

God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

I'm a Biblical literalist. If the Bible says so, I know it must be true. I try to interpret as little as possible, because that would distort the word of God.
And the Bible makes it clear that drinking is totally ok, as long as you don't get caught doing it. And it then makes it clear that if you get caught, you have to punish the person that caught you.

      Genesis 9:20-27

20And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
24And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Yea Verily Amen Brother! and your quoted scripture appears to provide further evidence that wine of Biblical vintage could literally kick your ass.
Verse 21 clearly states Noah was drunken. Grape juice does not have the capacity render a person into a state where they run around naked till they pass out.

Now alcohol bearing wine has been known to occasionally cause someone to exhibit behavior for which they are later sorry.
Apparently Our Lord God did not begrudge an occasional overindulgence in wine. He certainly didn't hold it against Noah and Lot!!

        Amen! ..
