Re: How much should I tithe?

While I acknowledge that God owns all things and is sovereign over them, and that withholding tithes and offering from God is tantamount to robbing God (Malachi 3:8-10), where in the NT does it say that believers should give ten percent of their income to the church? Does the NT place emphasis on what might called grace giving? That is, to freely give as we have freely received (2 Corinthians 8:12). I've been led to believe that God is not interested in our money until He first has our hearts, for only when we have given ourselves to the Lord will we have a proper prospective on money (2 Corinthians 8:5).

Brother Hutchins, you are an inspiration to everyone who genuinely seeks the Truth!

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Brother Hutchins is indeed a fortunate man.

I myself give only half of what I earn, but I take comfort in knowing that this was enough to save Zacchaeus and his house:

Lukas 19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
Lukas 19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

In fact this has always been one of my favorite Bible quotes ever since I read "Picture Stories from the Bible" as a young boy. I've still got my copy although it has become a little dog-eared from many years of reading.
