So you walked in on what you thought was another Catholic bashing thread.
I'm not the one that trolls on other people's buisness, or bashes at what they simply believe in. I consider myself christian like the rest of you. I read the Bible. I go to church every sunday. There's just one problem.
I'm Catholic.
Here's the part where I'm gonna get both defensive and aggressive about my faith. And I'm well aware there's been others before me that posted something similar to this. But I'm simply going to put my two cents in.
Upon reading a lot of threads on this site, many of them directly or randomly bash Catholics. People here claim Catholics are Mary worshippers, or our priests claim they can harness magical powers from God or whomever (I really never heard of that before). And that we look at the Pope as some sort of demigod leader. I don't care what you think of Catholics, but here's my attempt to clear the myths and have a little more understanding on Catholics.
CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY IN ANY WAY. I'm so sick of hearing that. No, don't post that we do. WE DON'T. Our Hail Mary prayer asks her to pray for us. PRAY FOR US. Not worshipping her. We believe and worship the One True God, just like you do. A shocker!
PRIESTS DO NOT POCCESS MAGICAL POWERS. I've seen it myself. They just simply pray to God, not take a stick off a branch and wave it around to create magical powers. Okay, so some of them turn gay and molest children. I admit, that's very wrong and sinful for them to do so. Back to the point, priests are like any other reverands and pastors. They preach and teach us the word of God.
WE DO NOT VIEW THE POPE AS SOME SORT OF DEMIGOD ENTITY. He simply preaches and teaches us the word of God. He doesn't command us to do something. We don't bow down to him. He's nothing more than an inspiritional priest with a big hat.
Now that I've put my two cents in, I hope that you can overcome your ignorance and, at the very least, view Catholics little better than Mary worshippers. I'm only asking you to have a better understanding, nothing else. Do a little research! If this post falls on deaf ears and gets deleted and I get banned and condemed for eternal damnation, fine. I'll respect your decision. I apologize but I'm assuming the replies are going to be nothing but "You're wrong! Catholics are Mary worshippers even though you have a better understanding than I do but I'm ignorant and Jesus loves me better!" Or "You're a heathen spreading lies about your own faith! Burn in hell!", so therefore to prevent replying to ignorance, I will simply not look at this thread.
