So you agree that the Babylon as mentioned in Scripture is NOT Rome then?

Well I'm sorry, your Brothers here would beg the differ. So you might as well run off and start your own Church! Why? 30,000 other people did it

    Really?

    .... Really?

    Is that it?

There's only a couple lines of that being pasted for your information. Of course I don't expect you to understand what it's like talking religion 12 on 1. However, it gets rather laborious. If you really can't read that little paragraph then walk away from this and let someone stand up who can.

Hypothesis: The Catholic Church is NOT the Whore of Babylon. I would go as far to say that these coincidences are placed by Satan so as to lead those without the guidance of the Church into his eternal trap.

    1. Seven Hills.

The Greek word in this passage is horos. Of the sixty-five occurrences of this word in the New Testament, only three are rendered "hill" by the King James Version. The remaining sixty-two are translated as "mountain" or "mount." Modern Bibles have similar ratios. If the passage states that the Whore sits on "seven mountains," it could refer to anything. Mountains are common biblical symbols, often symbolizing whole kingdoms (cf. Ps. 68:15; Dan. 2:35; Amos 4:1, 6:1; Obad. 8–21). The Whore’s seven mountains might be seven kingdoms she reigns over, or seven kingdoms with which she has something in common. It is critical to remember the context with which words such as hill were used by the apostles.

Furthermore, the number seven could be taken symbolically as it is elsewhere in the bible.

But even ignoring all of this, including the fact that numerous cities were built on "seven hills", how do we KNOW that this does not speak of Pagan Rome and the persecutions of Nero?

As a final argument, I would like to say that it is Vatican City, and NOT Rome, that is the head of the Catholic Church. Vatican is city is built on one single hill: Vatican Hill.

    2. "Babylon."

The phrase "Babylon the great" (Greek: Babulon a megala) occurs only five times in Revelation (14:8, 16:19, 17:5, 18:2, and 18:21).

However, Babylon is referred to as "the great city" SEVEN times in the book (16:19, 17:18, 18:10, 16, 18, 19, 21).

The only other occurence in which "the great city" is mentioned is 11:8, which states that the bodies of God’s two witnesses "will lie in the street of the great city, which is allegorically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified."

"The great city" is symbolically called Sodom, a reference to Jerusalem (Is. 1:10; Ezek. 16:1–3, 46–56).

So now we have Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Revelation all pointing to Jerusalem as "the great city".

Note that Revelation speaks of only ONE great city. This can NOT be a different city that those mentioned in the OT or else we have a biblical contradiction.

Babylon was used to refer to cities that opposed the spread of the faith at that time is my understanding. This has its roots in the era of captivity when the Jews were held in Babylon. Thus, their are many references to Rome as "Babylon" as it martyred many early Christians, opposing the faith.

However, in Revelation Babylon is also called "the great city" which HAS to be Jerusalem.

Now I would think that a fair start. Disagreements welcome. And please, don't post a bunch of links and videos. I KNOW what you think, now tell me why what I think is wrong.

Well, since you obviously take great glee in rejecting Jesus and ignoring God's Holy Word, all I can say is, enjoy hell. I know that Jesus and I will enjoy watching you be tortured mercilessly and laugh at your cries of anguish while up in Heaven.
