I want you to try to imagine the unimaginable.
What would be the state of this world if Christ had NOT come to make His great sacrifice on behalf of His Chosen?
Of course, the fact that it did happen is obvious proof that God directed it all according to His Plan. There's no need to trouble the fools who deny Christ into dealing with that issue. Furthermore, the fact that God divinely directed the production and preservation and distribution of His Word detailing the actions of Jesus are yet another obvious example of its inherent truth.
But putting all that glaring truth aside, can you just picture how awful the world would be without Jesus love and His faithful teachings?
Rome might still be in power. Fighting men would still be wearing those skimpy little skirts. Everyone would be stuck with sandals since commerce and industry would never have advanced to the invention of sneakers.
Thousands of women would be without any kind of work, because there would be no pleasant, cosy garment factories churning out cut and fit garments. Sure, toga makers would still be in demand, but what about hats? The Romans knew nothing of haberdashery. The beautiful confections of feathers and veiling that fine Christian women wear to church would never be invented. The lost of revenue from that industry alone would be devastating.
Truly, people would be in darkness. There would be no significant art, fornication in the streets, prostitution legal everywhere, witches summoning demons on street corners.
Anybody could be a slave and you wouldn't know it just by looking at their skin color. The rich and powerful would rule roughshod over the poor.
Music would be pitiful without Jesus to whom we now lift up our voices in glorious praise.
The people who governed us would be decadent and self-indulgent. Health care would be a mess since our lives and deaths would be meaningless to them as long as there were other peasants and slaves to replace us.
Decent toilet paper would be unknown and we would all squat over mass commodes. There would be hot and cold running water, but only in public bathhouses where everyone would be nude in front of everyone else.
There would be decent roads, but no cars. What's the point? Oh, and speaking of points, I am sure that there would be no pencils.
You know the Jews would have it rough. They like to accuse us Christians of being the problem but Rome wiped out their temple and flung them around the empire. A Roman ruled world would have eventually found a way to round them up and wipe them out completely. The Romans were pretty efficient at large public works projects.
The worst part, of course, is that there would be no America. No shining beacon of freedom and reason and Godliness. The continent and all its resources would be sitting there, underdeveloped-- a few scattered heathens living lives more mean and degrading than the slaves of Rome, who could at least buy their freedom. Though that sounds like a dangerous precedent to me.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the world of today. I know that it is sinful compared to the perfection of heaven. But it would be much, much worse were it not for you.
Praisingly Yours,
Handmaiden
