Unfortunately, I've not been able to read every post of this thread, but I wanted to touch on a couple point that have been made towards the end of the thread here, if I may.

I've read the arguments given by Marco Biagini, but don't see the point of the argument. At the basic level, his entire argument is stating that consciousness cannot exist in the current bounds of the laws of physics. However, he does nothing to prove that this is the case at all. He states the many things about the laws of physics, yes, but not a scientific reason that consciousness has to be out of the bounds of physics. Not to mention I had a problem with a number of grammatical errors in his paper there (unless it happened to be typed up by someone else. I will have to read a different copy of it somewhere and see if it has the same errors or not). Regardless, many of the things said are not entirely true, nor does he define what 'feeling' is or what 'emotion' is.

Of course the eye itself does not see they have receptors at the back of the eye that transmits the light energy into electrical and chemical energy dependent on the wavelength of the light. That signal is carried to the brain via the optic nerves and then is translated and decoded by the brain into what we see as an image.

Aside from this issue, I've been thinking of a couple of other discussion topics. Perhaps I should put a separate thread on this, unless there is already one on this subject. In which case, I apologize ahead of time if there is. However, I have read many times about how the Kings James Version 1611 Bible is the only one to follow and was written by the hand of God, but then are you saying that God translated the previous versions of the bible into English Himself and not by man? The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, the language of Moses, and the New Testament was written in Greek, which was the scholar's language of the time. During Jesus' life, Aramaic was the dominant language of the region and was likely what he spoke as well. I understand that you believe America to be His 'chosen' people (from what I've seen written in the past), however is it not the Israelites in the Bible that are His chosen people?

It's a thought that I've been trying to think of and look forward to reading what comes.

One more thing about consciousness and biological reactions to stimuli. How we react to various stimuli is a purely physical reaction. Pain from touching something hot will cause us to pull our arm back. And Biagini's explanation of how an animal reacts to the same stimuli is not sufficient nor thorough. He does not seem to have a good grasp on Ethology (study of animal behavior) as most animals have very similar reactions to stimuli. Not only that, but how we perceive emotions is also simple chemical reactions. Endorphins make us feel good, caffeine makes us feel alert and awake. Most of Biagini's argument is based on the electrical part of our brain but completely ignores the more important chemical aspects of our brain (and our entire bodies for that matter). Biochemical reactions can be complex (heck, just look how our bodies produce ATP to realize that), but can and has explained how we respond to all the stimuli our senses gives us. Many of Biagini's arguments have a false pretense and over-simplifies how things really work.

P.S. By the way, so it's understood, Science simply tries to explain what we we can observe in the universe and how it works in a testable manner and/or have evidence that can support a hypothesis. It cannot explain the metaphysical by definition because it cannot be tested using the scientific method.

What makes you think we have chemicals in our brain? I don't know what you do but I certainly wouldn't put any of those chemicals into my body, let alone directly into my brain. Electricity in the brain I can understand. That's how that godless heathen Dr Frankenstein made his creature after all. But chemicals? Come off the drugs, my friend.

ATP? Conservapedia, normally a model of clarity, was far too confusing for me. Is that a diagram of a building?

Moving an arm back from heat? I think you're mistaken here friend. Unthinking animals recoil from pain of course (Jude 1:10) but men don't do it because of a purely physical reaction. They do it because God gave us the reactions to do it (Job 38:36)

I really should stop trying to read these scientifical posts. I think I need to go and lay down for a while.

ATP to ATD has nothing to do with neuro chemical reactions in the synaptic clefts, nor the salt n pepper channels of electro chemical potential transmission, I imagine.

By the way, I'm a man, not woman. Though as no one can directly see my face, I can understand the confusion as the name by itself can be a bit androgynous. However, most women tend to spell it with an "i" in the name.

Receptors in cell biology is defined as such: any of various specific protein molecules in surface membranes of cells and organelles to which complementary molecules, as hormones, neurotransmitters, antigens, or antibodies, may become bound.

It's basically how one cell communicates with another cell. Here is an illustration that shows some of these extracellular (outside the cell) proteins. Here's another one that shows the neurotransmitters in the nerve cells of the brain.

Chemicals affect the brain in a number of ways a couple examples were previously stated. They travel through the bloodstream much of the time. The previous link also shows many of the chemicals that exist in the brain towards the latter half of the page.

Admittedly, the way ATP is formed is a complicated method. The Citric Acid Cycle is what forms the energy molecule ATP.

Also the argument between how one reacts from a source of heat doesn't make much sense. In essence, you still said that they both occur in the same way, the only difference is that God gave us the ability to react to a stimuli, whereas animals just react by themselves?

Giving a different example of stimuli, I've had a dog in the past that was afraid of thunderstorms. He'd go under the table shaking during the thunderstorm. Is that not the feeling of fear that the dog is having?

Just so you know, I don't take drugs at all. I don't smoke, either. I do drink a little from time to time, but rarely very much.

You are correct in that ATP to ADP does not directly relate to synaptic reactions in the brain. I was merely speaking of the fact that chemical reactions heavily exist within every one of the cells in our body. As mentioned above, there are many chemicals that exist in the brain that react in different ways to affect it. It's not 'all' electrical input/output.

I've actually gotten back to school to finish getting my AA degree in Zoology before transferring to a University. I've taken a few courses in Biology and really love the subject because it's really quite fascinating to me.

What I post here has nothing to do with my college degree. It is not a requirement whatsoever. I come here out of my own curiosity and wonder. I simply wish to better understand the world around me. As for political ideology, I consider myself much more a libertarian than either a liberal or conservative.
