How many stars are there

Hi all,

Just a quick question. How many stars are there and what would happen if you count them? Genesis 15:5 seems to mention that if you know the answer, that would be the amount of offspring you get.

I see a problem here: It would either be 0 offspring or so much people it would create a mass higher than the entire solar system. Can someone explain that to me?

Then say so. If you're going to be the "science-expert", you should realise that "possibly" does not mean the same as "it is estimated". As a matter of curiosity, estimated by whom, when and where? In other words, who are the "we" who rounded it?

You're claiming 10²⁴ stars and suggesting that's the best outcome, excluding rounding errors. Quantities such as 10²³ and 10²⁵ stars are merely peripheral estimates of minor significance. How would you describe the difference between 10²³ stars and 10²⁵ stars? Can you suggest something of that size for comparison?

The global population of Jews has been fairly steady in the 14-16 million range, so there are something on the order of 15 million stars.

A quick feasibility calculation confirms this number. Since each star is a jewel in the firmament weighing, say, 1oz (decent ones, not Kays clearance), then the total weight is 15 million oz, or 7812.5 faggots (approximately the weight of a small effeminate man). Scholars can debate the finer points of the firmament, but this kind of weight would be easily supported by The Pillars of The Earth.

I don't normally visit left wing sites and this example confirms my decision: Genesis written by Abraham? Hebrews scientifically naīve? Where do these syncretists get off? The Firmament is not a fancy limited to Genesis, it's mentioned in Job and even described as solid. The only conversation addresses whether it's glass or metal; "looking glasses" were more often silver than crystal back then and modern translators could be excused on that maybe – note the last word maybe, I'm not excusing them myself on that basis and when leftie agendaniks introduce such themes it's a good idea to read more of their stuff and sure enough in that case ultra-high-speed evolution is coming right up. "Stand well back," they imply, "Cherenkov radiation spouts from every living species!" but it doesn't so they're wrong.

And according to the interwebs it's even available as (finger)nail varnish. Everything God made according to these creatures is wrong and needs to be improved, or explained away, it makes me sick. Or at leat get a headache. If God is so deficient, how could He make anything? Let alone a whole universe.
