Now Thomas, do you really think we are that gullible? First off, my JesOS Ver 7.21 anti virus software detected a virus in the website you sent me to, not very nice.

Secondly, after parsing the page and removing the offing code, I found a lot of malarkey. Really, you want people to base calculation s based on photoshopped images? Do you really think these lines|| are a foot apart?

You do realize the moon is not very big, probably no larger than a football field and no more than about 200 miles from Earth, don't you.

You see Thomas, when God created the Heavens, he told His scribes some critical data so we would understand. He told us the Sun was about 500 miles away and that the moon was a lot closer.

Just noticed your lovely piece of artwork/map

Shame it actually relates to absolutely sweet f all in the real world.

Great to look at, love the attention to detail. But it's meaningless. It doesn't mean or prove anything my friend.

Why do you stick to old drivel like this when you KNOW, you KNOW deep down that you are wrong? Why be SO stubborn that you outright refuse to actually look at the facts and evidence???

And that isn't a rhetorical question

Tell me, why do you hate God with such passion?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

        P.S

Nice to be known as 'Trash' very loving of you. You think it gives Christianity a good name if your outright labeled as trash if you don't share the same narrow minded views?

Do you think the world advanced and grew stronger in it's knowledge by labeling people who thought in a different way as trash?

I think some of you have a lot of growing up to do. Regardless how old you are.

        Sorry... hate god??

Since when did we have to bring god into this? I was having a discussion about astronomy.

And why should I answer your question when you've made no attempt whatsoever at answering mine?

Ok, so James Hutchins has just issued me with a genericic 'infraction' well done james.

You say this isn't a debate forum, which is fair enough... but I don't see how this is even a debatable subject. You are wrong, I am right. Pure and simple.

You know the reason you ban people like me, the reason you issue 'Infractions' and probably the reason you guys created this forum in the first place is to maintain complete control and dominance over the views expressed on here. To stop people like me actually making sense and allowing 'doubt' to enter your mind.

I feel sorry for you, and please, I don't mean that in a condescending way, I genuinely do feel sorry. All I can say is enjoy your closet backwards lives where external views become suppressed and banned for the same of advancing your own agendas.

As for the devil leaving through my ass James, it was a kind and mature gesture, but don't worry about my ass mate, it's perfectly fine.

May the flying spaghetti monster and all of this noodley goodness be with you all, forever and ever. RAmen.

              AMEN BROTHER!!!

There must be a way for these guys to break this shackle of religion and faith and blind stupidity. I don't believe for one minute that it can't be done, I just don't quite know how.

It may be something that only the person themselves can come to realize.

and trust me... if that day happens to you, you will finally understand what it means to be free.

                I am reminded of Corinthians...
                1st Corinthians 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
1st Corinthians 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1st Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1st Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
                1st Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

This teaches us about pompous people who think they know more than Jesus.

Of course the sun is millions of miles away and of course it is huge, it's the life source of our whole solar system! The fact that so many people on this website alone have managed to convince themselves otherwise is truly terrifying. Is this the world we live in? A world of delusional extremists?

I have read various different posts on this website in the past half an hour and I am honestly shocked to see the strange and skewed views so many of you people have of the world! You call for all "mooslims" to be killed, saying they are all terrorists, and they are not! It is clear that not one of you supposedly so well informed people have ever had the thought to listen to the fact the vast majority of Muslim people are just as anti-terrorism as you or I.

The few who are active in terrorism have been BRAINWASHED much in the same way that so many Nazis were brainwashed prior to the Second World War. They have been made to think bad things of people who they know practically nothing about, only twisted facts and lies taught to them by evil people!

There is so much more to say on this matter, and I truly hope that no one hear resorts to any extreme methods because of their prejudice or just ignorance of the world around them.
And I'm probably going to be banned for this, but before that happens I would just like to make a few things about myself clear:
                  1) I am not a lesbian, so please don't accuse me of being one just because I am a woman with an opinion.
                  2) I believe in the same god as you! I just choose to take a different interpretation of his words than you.
                  3) While I am a Catholic, I do not choose to follow all of the traditional Catholic conventions. For example, I have had sex out of wedlock.
I'm only 18, I would be a bit worried if I were tied down in a marriage at this age. However, I have a boyfriend who I have been with for several years and we are very very happy. We decided to show each other our love for each other by loosing our virginity's to each other. We have had sex.
But none of this makes me a whore. None of this means I should burn in hell. None of this means you have the right to slander me and shove your opinion down my throat.
                  4) Yes I am aware that I am shoving my opinion down your collective throats. (But at least my opinions are sane)

Can you back that statement up with proof and not conjecture or 'theories'? We can categorically confirm our views with the Bible.

No, you pray to mary, a false God. Read up in your Bible about false Gods and get back to me.

Actually, i does make you a whore. Unmarried sex is wrong as is sex when it is not for the expressed purpose of making a baby for Jesus. Again, you really should read your Bible.

                    4) Yes I am aware that I am shoving my opinion down your collective throats. (But at least my opinions are sane)

No, you are not forcing them on us, not a problem. Though whether they are sane thoughts is a matter of debate and we do not allow that here.

                    • Re: The Sun: Millions of miles away?

Reading this I am reminded of my Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Philosophy from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, Great Britain, and a few of the questions we encountered there.

Now before you condemn me as a blasphemer you should know that I am a practicing member of the Church of England - that means praying regularly and attending service every Sunday. I am also a Private in the British Army. Every morning and night I recite Psalms 91; You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not approach you., Psalms 23, verse 4; Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me, and Psalms 46; He maketh wars to cease in all the world. He breaketh the bow and snappeth the spear in sunder. I shall be exalted among the heathen, I shall be exalted in the earth. The Lord of Hosts is with us.

I am also of African descent, and yes, my skin is as dark as bitter chocolate.

I openly worship the Holy Trinity that is the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, and I also have a close relationship with the Chaplain of my regiment - I have saved his life from enemy fire more than once and he has returned the favour.

But how a Christian of any denomination can denounce any other religion, as you have just done to Cath, mystifies me. In my time in the Armed Forces I have fought beside Hindu, Sikh, Atheist, Agnostic, Apathiest, Native American and even beside the Muslims of the Afghan National Army. And none of them faltered when the bullets were flying, and lives were on the line. I would trust the lives of all I know, and my own life in the hands of any one of those men, regardless of creed, colour and race. What does the tale of the Good Samaritan teach if not to love your fellow man no matter his origins?

And as for worshipping false idols, in reference to Catholicism, I think you are overlooking one somewhat vital point. Okay, so they do not idolise the Lord Jesus Christ, but without Mary there would have been no immaculate conception, no mother to bear our Lord as he grew in her womb, no breast for him to suckle from. Bluntly, without Mary there would be no Christ.

As for the distance to the sun from the earth, I do not believe that it is a large ball of coal floating through the sky, I do believe that it is a giant ball of flaming gas and heat over ninety million miles from us. Call me a heretic, a blasphemer if it pleases you so, but does it not humble you more to think that with the scale of the universe we are in, with billions upon billions of stars and planets, not only did the Lord create that in one day, he chose this small, blue planet to bear life, to bear US?

                      Your's,
                      A Christian Soldier.

                        Hi James (Hutchins),

I read your last reply and thought about it. Do you watch tv James? Do you use a computer and go on the internet? I guess so, because this is a website, which requires a computer to access. Well guess what - those tv pictures you see and that computer you use are powered by a mixture of technology but most of that technology involves a signal bouncing off a satellite. SATELLITES orbits anywhere between 0 - 1240 miles above the earth.......................which is higher than the pastor's estimates for the sun at 500 miles. If a satellite operated at that height from the earth and is still in orbit, that means the sun didn't fry it, which means the sun isn't 500 miles away. The sun is in fact 8 minutes away. You are seeing the sun as it was 8 minutes ago - this is down to something called.......the speed of light. The speed of light is 186,000 a second. So the fact that the sun takes 8 minutes for it's light to reach us means it is:

                        186,000 x 60 (seconds in a minute) x 8 (minutes). The answer is 89280000 (miles). Fact.

                        Have a nice day.

Uh, so Mary had the ONLY cooter (and tits) in the Holy Land at the time? Care to support that claim with, I don't know, a reference or something? I know it's not in the Bible (which plainly states there were plenty of other women with functioning cooters (and tits) around at the time), so I'm curious as to what you'll come up with.

We ban trolls. Are you a troll? I have to doubt. I love God, He loves me.

Physc 101 logic, sorry, it does not fly here.

Why am I not surprised to find out you are a low life troll.

Lol i was jesting with you about the flying spaghetti monster!!!

                              The following is not a personal attack on you, merely an observation;

I love how you say you are a 'regular nice guy' and yet you have the cheek to call someone you no nothing about 'a whore' you've openly awarded yourself a medal for punching the most gays. An award for hurting your wife to make sure she only needs telling once, called me low life scum and yet it's YOU who accuses ME of insulting?

If ive ever come across someone who isn't regular or nice, its you buddy.

You also state that there is no room for debate on this forum, then why bother making this place in the first place? So you can re-assert your position of an all knowing 'lover of christ?' yeah I get it, your christian, get over it! Forums are places for discussions and a place for opinions to be heard. If you outright refuse to hear anyone elses (or at least refuse to take it on board) then how do you ever see yourself understanding why it is that people choose NOT to follow the same ideology as yours. Does that not ever get questioned in your mind? Why everyone else doesn't share your views?

"This teaches us about pompous people who think they know more than Jesus."

Sorry, am I mistaken or was it not the view of Pastor Billy-Reuben that the sun is 500 miles away? I said I'm right, you're wrong, relating to the sun discussion, not to anything jesus is supposed to have said. Where does it say in the bible "and so jesus said...'the sun is 500 miles away'

And for a few little facts so that you think im not purely here to troll or insult or 'denounce the word of god' (and this is a few, I could go on for hours, but this topic isn't up for debate now is it )

Firstly where has this guy got his figures from?

Secondly 62 miles up is the edge of our atmosphere, the sun averages about 93 million miles. At minimum it is 91 million miles, maximum is 94.5 million (our orbit is elliptical, not circular, thus the variation).

and this been measured to take approx 8 minutes and 31 seconds to reach the earth.

Thirdly, so how many miles away do they think mars and mercury are? or do they not exist in your distorted minds?

and fourthly - The sun isn't "Yellow" it's a white light, thus why you can't look directly at the sun without blinding yourself, yeh the suns made of coal mate, thats why it's made of hydrogen and is classed as a "star", a "star" hot enough and only just far away enough for life to live and evolve on this planet. - And yes the sun is basically a nuclear reactor.

Do you think space is a smoke screen for "God" and "Jesus" to work their magic?

You know NOTHING about our galaxy and the stars and planets. Sorry to say it.

Have you never witnesses a passing satellite in the night sky? If you look for long enough on a clear night, you sometimes catch them drifting past, quite a cool thing to see, but trust me, they aren't tethered to anything
