infact it is quite the contrary, we (the british, my other family tree) have not lost a war (in which we were fully commited) since 1066, which equates to 941 years.

in the case of the revolutionary war it is quite different, we were more pre-occupied with maintaining our autority in our more promising colonies like india, i'm afraid cotton and sugar wasn't very high on our priorities list.
