Jesus didn't seem to think so,

Why don't you just rip out the pages you don't like or agree with? The King James leaflet you are left with will give you no confusion and will fit your lifestyle. You might have a bit of explaining to do on the day of judgement though,

Oh really? So how do you counter the atheist who says everything in the Bible is metaphorical? What makes you so special that you get it right while everyone else is on a continuum of a bit wrong to plain wrong based on arbitrary standards in your own head?

You're just making up your own idea of God and having the arrogance to mock us for believing in Him based on the Bible more than you. How does it feel to be a smug false prophet? How dare you make up your own version of God then question people for having actual faith?

It's super easy to believe in a God that's actually you. So what happens when you decide in your head that there is no God and you can just make up your own morals and cut out the fake middle man? And what's stopping you?

God gave Noah ONE HUNDRED YEARS to build a big boat. During that time, He surely could have popped in to visit others and convince them to obey Him, no? But instead of "rehabilitating" them, He chose to drown all humans, including unborn babies and toddlers, and all the animals, because the adult humans refused to obey Him.

So, upon what do you base your belief that He would "rather rehabilitate"?

Because at that time, pro-creation was essential. The world needed to be populated by God's children, homosexual relations would encumber this act.

Also, as I'm sure you agree, God is perfect in every way, shape and form. Humans are not, I'm sure you will agree. When humans compiled the bible, it is naiive to assume that they compiled it without any influence of their own opinion, for this very reason I believe that homosexuality is condemned in the bible for social/historical reasons. The views of the writers permeated the text.

God has so much power, and i believe he would rather rehabilitate those who have done wrong then destroy his creation.

If you only admit the propositions you already believe, what is the point of reading the book? You might as well wipe your anus with its pages and ignore God entirely. You have the same values as an atheist: your own conscience. .

This is a very strong point, one I have often internally debated myself. The quotes I say I favour more I didn't necessarily always believe, they didn't naturally fit in with who I already was. I have worked hard to try and develop the loving, unbiased nature that the bible says I should have. I have strived hard to adhere to the rules of lying, and respect that I know I should have. I admit propositions I believe, and ones that I know I have. i admit ALL propositions, but I believe that quotes to do with hatred and death must be read with a knowledge of the Zeitgeist of the time it was written, and that the true message may lie underneath, that only the beautiful intelligence God gave us can unearth. I am wearing my heart on my sleeve and in this discussion I am being totally honest. Please do not puns and sarcasm against me because I am not trying to mock you.

The bible is applicable yesterday, now and forever. But the way we use those values grows with us as we grow closer to God as a race of people. We are only children under God, still growing, still learning, still making mistakes.

I will not be an atheist because the struggle of overcoming my flaws is beautiful because it brings me closer to God.

Why do you think that verses fitting your preexisting sinful lifestyle and secular values are truer than the verses that don't? You personally prefer love over hate. If it was that simple, why would you even need a Bible to cherry pick from? Obviously the Bible is meant to teach you something you didn't already know. The Bible helps us break free of our conscience by teaching us to condescend toward and execute people who are different than us, in ways that please God. It teaches a higher law than man's law.

Part of his blessing is our continual development, we have power in place to teach our children right from wrong. Isn't it beautiful to be able to raise a child without pain, to teach and discipline the sternly without the sword, but with the pen? God got nothing wrong, people do, we are not as perfect as the Supreme Creator, or his Son. I do not mean to compare us to God as I have said, any comparative style I seem to take is merely showing the effect of his love on us.

Prayer keeps me sane, if at the end of time It turns out I am wrong, then I will hold my hands up and beg for the mercy of God. But until the end of days I will forever hold love as a powerful force.

Disobedient children - God made us so complex, because he loves us. He made us infinitely complex so we can discover things about ourselves and how our inner psychology works, we are truly artworks by a grand designer. Children are models of their parents, and different children have different capacities for behaviour. Physically punishing children also leads them to masochistic tendencies, and I believe God gave us the aptience and intelligence to teach children right from wrong in a sophisticated way. We are above animals, we are above violence. we are agents of Gods love and patience. Your dedication to the lord is beautiful, may I just say!
