You can see the curvature of the atmosphere, but that doesn't really show anything.

How can the atmosphere be curved and not the planet? According to this logic, the atmosphere would be thinner at the north and south poles, which it is not.

This is an argument from ignorance, a classical fallacy. Just because you can't think of any other way to explain the lunar phases doesn't mean your pet theory is correct. You have to actually prove the theory you put forward, not just fail to imagine anything better.

I think, actually, that it is you who cannot imagine another reason. What exactly do you think makes the phases? Be specific, try not to reference the bible.

In actual fact, the phases of the moon is not a theory. the reason it is not a theory? Because its obvious...

1) Jump!
Now, scientists claim that Earth is spherical and rotating at a speed of between 700-1000 miles per hour, depending on your latitude. This is a very high rate of speed. You can disprove this nonsense by simply jumping up as high as you can. Really, it's that simple. What happens when you jump? You come straight down to where you were. But, if the Earth were indeed spinning at such a fast speed, wouldn't you land hundreds of feet away?

If you were to stand in the flat bed of a truck going 75 mph, and jump straight up, what would happen? You wouldn't fall straight down. You would fall out of the truck. That's because trucks move, the Earth doesn't. This experiment proves the Earth is fixed in space and doesn't move.


2) Blow!
Since if the Earth is supposedly a sphere, it naturally comes to assume what would happen to people below the equator, like in Australia? Since they are underneath the sphere, wouldn't they fall off? This is where scientists come up with mumbo-jumbo like "gravity" and "centrifugal force" to explain away their theories. So, the scientists want you to think that because the earth is so much more massive than people or things, that people will naturally "stick" to the bottom of the earth because of gravity.

This can be disproved very simply. Get a balloon and inflate it as big as possible. It will be a spherical shape. Now, take a piece of paper and try to rip, tear, or cut the tiniest speck of paper possible. This paper represents a human being, much smaller in mass to the balloon, which represents the Earth. Now try and place the small piece of paper to the underside of the balloon. What happens? It falls off!

That's right. Even though the balloon is so much bigger in mass, it cannot hold the tiny paper. So if the Earth was a sphere, no one could live below the equator because they would fall off.


3) Get High!
Ok, this one you really can't do at home, but you can do it out in the world. Stand on the ground and look around you. What's the farthest you can see? Maybe it's a building, tree, or mountain. Now, find some place very close to it where you can get a much higher vantage point. (This also works if you're on a jet and about to take off.) Notice how in the higher place you can see much farther? You can see more of the world the higher you get. This shows the world is flat because the higher you go, the easier it is to see over obstacles. At the same time, it shows the world cannot be spherical. Because if the world was curved, the far distance would forever remain out of view because of the Earth's curvature. It would eternally be over the horizon.

If the Earth was a sphere, it would not matter how high you went, you would still see the same thing. Since this is not the case, the Earth is flat.


These experiments are all confirmed by creation scientists as being 100% accurate. If you're skeptical of the flat Earth, why don't you do these experiments so you can see truth with your own eyes.

The whole balloon thing dosent actually work in the same way that earth does. A balloon when blown up to make a spheric shape is filled with a gas. This gas is called "Oxygen" (Yes the thing you use to breathe). Now the middle of the earth isnt full of oxygen therefore you are going to get a completly different result , There is a gravitaional pull meaning that Australia isnt going to fall off.

As a college physics student, and a person who has been a loyal Christian for 20 years, I have never been more angry in my entire life than when I read this thread. I'm not trying to spark a debate, but seriously, nearly every single point brought up by you guys as evidence that the world is flat is entirely misguided, or flat out wrong. Honestly, I am 100% behind the possibility of using faith to explain the unexplainable, but please let the real scientists of the world do the rest. Clearly nobody on this forum has even an elementary understanding of astronomy, relativity, or even the very basic principles of high school level physics. It makes me sick to read this stuff, to be honest. And yet, you all wonder why the media (and anyone with the least bit of critical thinking skills) treats you all with no respect...

I am sure that all the reasons you guys are wrong about the earth being flat have been explained thoroughly in this thread. The roundness of the earth is a scientific fact. Denying it is as idiotic as denying that the sun rose this morning. This church makes me absolutely ashamed to be a Christian. If this church is correct about God and the universe, then He is certainly not a God I will ever believe in.

It seems I got an infraction immediately after posting, which doesn't make much sense to me, since this is a discussion forum and, in theory, should be open for, you know, discussion. Since I just joined 8 minutes ago, I guess I wouldn't lose anything by getting "banned" regardless.

Anyway, I'm not calling God a liar. I just wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror if I blatantly denied something that has been proven time and time again. Is the Bible the word of God? Sure. But we also have to juggle with the fact that it was written thousands of years before the age of space exploration and modern physics. In my view, the overarching themes (i.e., the Bible's "point") can still hold in light of science.

Go ahead and ban me for expressing my viewpoint. I have followed the rules laid out for this forum and have been nothing but courteous.

I can understand why you are so angry when reading this thread. By reading this thread you have discovered the truth that the earth is flat, and been lied to by secular science.

I just had a quick question.

I have never seen the earth from space, so I can't absolutely say that the earth is round, no matter how many pictures or proofs I've seen. But, I accept it as being true. You accept Scripture as being true, which is perfectly fine with me. But, were you alive when it was written? Were you actually there when Jesus was nailed to the cross? I don't see how you, or me, or any of us can accept any of it more than we accept science. I'm all for having faith and defending God to the grave, but I do not think any of us has the right to determine what's absolutely true or untrue. Absolute truth is only known by our Creator.

Well, I suppose the best answer I can give is that the human lifespan is relatively short compared to the full existence of mankind. I would rather try to find truth through faith to answer some of life's hardest questions that are currently unanswerable by (at risk of getting banned) "secular science" rather than die without even trying to answer them. Even if the answers are totally wrong, I think the process of discovery and investigation is worth it. I also like to leave myself open to alternate interpretations (unlike many other people on this forum), not because I'm weak-minded or anything, but because I actually enjoy hearing what others have to say, even if deep down I think it's blatantly wrong. What's the harm in that, anyway?
