Friend, I have looked through binoculars at a drive in movie. It (unfortunately) did not mean that Godzilla was really destroying Tokyo.

You make a good point, but my point was not that the stars were or weren't real, my point was that based on the knowledge that I already knew, I could make a new observation (for lack of a better word) about the world we live in. Using this new information, I was then able to make a new hypothesis that can be proved or disproved at a later date. This is the scientific method; it is possible that I may never be ably to get into space and if I find that to be true, I will make a new hypothesis and will try and hone the knowledge that I thought I once knew.

The best evidence is the irreducibly complexity of various biological subsystems.

Like how if you take one part of a mouse trap's mechanism away you do not have a working system.

Because we can't explain what the government thought they were doing while faking space missions does not prove there were space missions and therefore the firmament does not exist therefore God told lies. Also you telling lies about objects at optical infinity being at different focal points in a telescope and hoping we don't spot your bluff is quite pathetic.

You misunderstand me, I was simply curious to the answer, I was not using the point as a foundation for my own gains.

Also, I am impressed that you pointed out the optical infinity (I genuinely mean this!). This is how a debate should be; I make a point and you riposte and bring up new information. Unfortunately, I was thinking about planets and the moon. These are not at optical infinity and do need to be focussed on.

I did not make claims that space travel actually existed, I merely said that that is was I had to conclude based on the information open to me. It was more of a hypothesis than anything

Oh and I would like to thank 'redeemed_rapist' for having the pi thing right there in his signature. as soon as I saw that I knew the bible was just a man made book with errors in it and I didn't need to research anything. Half of my education is math and i have long known pi and why it exists and how to calculate it. Thanks for that!

Also, space travel does exist and we have proof. the astronauts placed a reflective device on the moon's surface, oriented such that we can and have verified the distance between the earth and the moon many times with laserlight. moreover, we have sent up many satellites and we have huuuuge telescopes that take lots of pictures and video with many different wavelength filters and we have learned plenty about space, the movement of the earth and the other large masses, the sun, other stars other galaxies etc etc. Not only does all of this prove the original post is wrong, but i ask you in all that vastness, million upon millions of galaxies (do you know how big these numbers are? really?) applying the drake equation we cannot ignore the enormous possibility of life elsewhere, which also shoots down the book falsely known as god's word. i tell ya, i just can't wait to have alien visitations in the news and i will run right down to the nearest church and ask those in the charge of it 'what does your god say now?' lol now THAT would be a miracle worth experiencing

I understand your point, and it is true, I am making guesses, but before I broadcast these guesses to the world I will try and find some evidence to support my claim so that it more of an educated guess. I continue this until my guess appears to be a reasonable assumption and eventually, I might be able to prove my guess right (or wrong - either way, something new has been learned).

To continue your cookies analogy; let's assume that I have the original recipe, I know it's good, but I want to make it better, so I mess around with the ingredients a little. I then offer a sampling of the new cookies and ask people if they are better. I ask ten friends. They all say these cookies are better. I now have a better idea as to whether my new recipe is better. Then I ask the rest of the world and everyone agrees that these cookies are better. My original guess has become a fact!

you are the one with the unprovable assertion. you made the claim there is a designer, prove it or it is false. also it's spelled 'believe'

again, (it's as if you don't read my posts, typical female) the book falsely known as god's word claims that pi is calculated to be 3.00 in I Kings 7:23 (thanks again redeemed_rapist), where it has long been known that it is not 3.00, anyone who uses that number in their calculations can never achieve a correct solution to their problem. pi is correctly calculated to be slightly more than 3 and depending on how many decimals you need you can have them, I personally calculated and verified it to 25 places as a high school project. It's been known for hundreds of years now, I wasn't the first to do it but i re-did it to verify that it is predictably true. It is called a radical because the decimals do not repeat. If they did repeat we could express it as a fraction using integers. Again, depending on how many decimals you want there are some fractions that can approximate pi to make it easier for the one doing the math. My fav for most things is 355/113. it gives about 6 or 7 accurate decimal places and isn't hard to code in to whatever device you are using. I'm an electronics engineer people lol your 'god says pi is 3.00 is good enough for me' line isn't good enough for the real world.

pi is not 3.00 as is falsely claimed in the man made book called the bible. therefore the rest of the book's credibility is called into question. why do we need to go further? if that book is not 100% true then we can't trust anything in it unless it's proven with a model of predictability.

therefore there is no god if there is no word of god.
