But seriously, how is it that liberal "Christans" can possibly delude themselves into this line of thinking? Aren't they the ones always whining about the need for logic?

Somehow I doubt it. After all, Plato used metaphors, and he was writing 2,400 years ago.

Liberal "Christians" claim that we can treat the whole Bible (or the parts they don't like) as metaphorical so they can ignore God's commands. That's all there is to it.
