    What defines a False Religion?

This is my first post and I will be honest about it, I am a follower of Abbraxas, now before you go gather the tar and feathers first listen.
I believe in God, yet for my believe he has no name. A name means binding the almighty power to limits, for a name is a human thing.
Infinite power can not be named.
I believe that Jesus died for our sins, but I also believe that humanity is ignoring that and is forgetting that we are falling into oblivion again so to speak.

Where I live (Holland), a church is hard to find, most are closed to people and are mostly arrogant. So a discussion there is next to impossible.

I believe in God, but in another way that most people around here do. Does that make my religion False?

P.S: I am not here to flame or start a war or anything, I am just curious.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

Re: What defines a False Religion?

double post since I can't seem to edit my post:

I am a goth, I play world of warcraft. and I believe in God, you can call me a Heathen all you want for that or Godless, but please before you do, show some proof that God doesn't want Goths, nor WoW.
The Bible is about respect and love for each other. Not unbased hatred towards a group or person.

Re: What defines a False Religion?

      Dear friend:

A false religion is any religion that departs from the Truth. Consider how many religions there are and historically have been, and how many denominations there are just within what is commonly called "Christianity." They can't all be true, can they?

The true religion is the one that motivates people to obey God's commandments — all of them, not just those that liberal "Christians" cherry-pick:

Matt. 7:21-23: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

That is, even believing in the right God will get you damned unless you believe in God in the right way and act on it.
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

There's a lot more to the Bible than the fluffy-bunny parts.

Not unbased hatred towards a group or person.
Hatred is never unfounded when it agrees with God:

Psalm 139:21-22: Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

so.. logic states in that part that if I'm not Christian I am damned, that's the way the dutch churches explain it. I just believe that if you believe in God, and trust in him, you will be loved.

who is right here? church or me?

ok the last part, let's look at that closely. It speaks about individuals. You cannot hate all the Goths because some are against God. Same with Muslims, etc.
A lot of the most dedicated God followers I know are Goths. the most Muslims I know respect God, respect the Bible, just like they respect the religion they grew up in.

See the passage from Matthew that I've quoted above. Jesus is right, and you're wrong.

If a group (like the mooselimbs) is defined by rejecting True Christianity™, then by definition, all of the members of that group are against God. Those who aren't against God are called ex-mooselimbs and converts to Christianity. If your reasoning were correct, God would have been in the wrong to order the holy genocides that He routinely ordered in Old Testament times, no?

Obviously, the Bible doesn't single out by name those groups that the devil hadn't yet created when the Bible was written. My point is that God has been known to condemn entire groups of people.

exactly my point. Since God does, we should act like Him and do as Him? Leave the judging to God when they reach his throne. They will suffer then. Right now they suffer Herecy? it's a strong word. But let's call it that for now. They suffer by not being guarded by God, not being loved. Is that not a burden enough for them?

Are you deliberately being obtuse? When God commanded genocide, what were the believers supposed to do, say, "Well, gee, God, we don't want to come across as judgmental or anything"? As for leaving the judging to God, if that were such a big deal to Him, then He wouldn't have revealed a Bible with verses like these:

John 7:24: Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

1 Cor. 6:2: Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Obviously, God wants us to judge. He just doesn't want us to judge hypocritically, as the have-a-nice-day liberal "Christians" would know if they ever deigned to read their "Judge not" fragment in context.

It's readily apparent that you're not, but do you even know who the saints are, according to the Bible?

No, the question does not remain open. The context is a specific instruction to judge; I don't know how the question could be more closed. You've never even opened a Bible, have you?

No. If that was enough of a burden for them, God would have told us to leave them alone, rather than telling us to punish them.

                            Well, you're certainly not.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Most people seem to assume that atheism and agnosticism are incompatible. This is false. Agnosticism deals with knowledge (or lack thereof). Theism and atheism deal with beliefs. Theism is based on the belief that a god or gods exist. Basic atheism is simply a lack of belief in gods.
