It's not surprising you have to ask, Doctor - her own Mother apparently didn't know, either.Originally posted by Dr. Warren Wierdsbe View PostWho is this Oprah?
She had meant to name her "Orpah" after a woman in the Bible, but you know the spelling 'skills' those people have....

That's true, kimsland!Originally posted by kimsland View PostWhat if these people of remote islands were then saved by followers preaching the word to them?
Many "lost souls" have later found salvation by the help of others that visit and preach the Lords words. Especially in remote villages of the world
What of those who die before the missionary comes? If you don't think they were predestined for Hell, then why do they never get to hear the Word?I do not feel that these are forgotten souls or that they were never intended to be "saved". I feel that they are waiting to hear the truth and once heard will then be saved and live praising the Lord for eternity.
After all, the planet has been here for over six THOUSAND years. All the lost souls in foreign lands won't be saved, because many hundreds of thousands have died already.
Well, there may be some hope for you. After all, the story of Noah's Ark shows us God's Glory and Justice in great detail!Originally posted by kimsland View PostNo I have never read the Bible or the Qur'an, or any other of these fairy tales
I do remember when I was young (and I'm being truthful as always) stories about Noah's Arc and things like that. I would prefer that book as a good moral book not this other thing (the sequel)
Look, our own Sister Shirlee, Christ's Storyteller, has posted the story of Noah's Ark for your edification.Bible boring? Nonsense!

Oprah is a celebrity that helps many through being a talk show host. She has reached out and helped more than you could have with her millions of viewers everyday.Originally posted by Dr. Warren Wierdsbe View PostSister Jenny, This is a good thread, but

Actually if others spoke as you did just then, I would be very pleasedOriginally posted by Pastor Isaac Peters View PostIt's not about how you feel. It's about what God's Word says. If God wants any person to be saved, He will find a way to call that person
Your words are wise and what is needed to help others here.
I suspect that some just don't want to be saved, this though their decision is not up to us to judge them, leave that for your god.
Some may even feel as I do and be free from all the persecutions and pain that others express here. I have lived happily and free this way since being a young child and certainly hope that all other children try to free themselves

Re: Oprahism: Oprah Denies Christ
I would like to correct your (and many others here) wrong ways as well
This can be a difficult battle but you will be on the right track if you free the children of their pain.
Though this may be above your own desires and will; the children reading can start by freeing themselves. Leave this area and learn the world's happiness the first step is making that decision and then running as fast as you can to sanctuary.
There I'll be with most of the world's population, open arms and happy that you made it and you did it alone. You can do this, many have before and are now living the freedom with being judged by others beneath you
Ironically you could go on the Oprah show yourself and tell the world how you made it out. I'd certainly tune in and applaud your bravery

You are not going to play Kumbaya are you?
Psalm 81:10:
I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Re: Oprahism: Oprah Denies Christ
I merely open the minds of others so as they can decide for themselves
I hope that you practice that in your "support" ! replies as well
The decision can only be made once all other information is known, there is a world of happiness beyond these walls and that's where most of the world population live. Freely and happily.
The children know what I mean, and will venture out just as all of earths life beings do. I only ask that you do this today and not live in pain any more.
I note that I am presently locked from replying immediately, but I am willing to wait and hope that the children will read and be helped my words
I note that your "pointing out" is not the direction for me, I would prefer to be free from persecution and enjoy my life with others who are open as well
I guide my children every day and help them make their own decisions to a better life. I hope that you would do the same for yours. Anything less would be inhumane and wrong.

Ah yes, Orpah, Naomi's daughter-in-law from the Book of Ruth. Ruth and Orpah were both Naomi's daughters-in-law, and when they left their home, Orpah left but Ruth clave to her mother-in-law. This is where we get that poetic paean to faithfulness,Originally posted by SUV View PostIt's not surprising you have to ask, Doctor - her own Mother apparently didn't know, either.

Ruth 1
16And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
So I see this has nothing to do with the lack of command of the English language held by colored folk.
In Christ,
Warren
