  • Protecting believers from skeptics

While Landover Baptist is vigilant in protecting members from the devilish skeptics who try to tear down our beliefs, other forums aren't so careful. Therefore I was pleased to find many God-fearing Christians have learned how to protect themselves from such so-called 'evidence and reason'. Below is an actual response on one of these 'open' forums:

Yes, that's all well and good, however, I don't set much store in scholars who don't set much store in the inerrancy of scripture. I don't like to see the Word of God torn apart by anyone, no matter their credentials. Having a legitimate question is different that an all-out assault. What do you think a non-believer would think seeing Christians questioning the Word of God? Judgment will begin with us, and I don't think the Lord would approve of what's being done with His Word. There are a lot of us who cherish each and every word. If man sees contradictions he should seek answers from those who are more mature in the Lord instead of making unsubstantiated claims. It is a holy book, after all.

Praise the Lord. Did you know that the words "rationality" and "logic" do not appear once in His Word? Hallelujah!
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

Glory to GOD, and welcome to Landover!

We are very careful about protecting our believers from the influence of satanic skeptics and so-called "thinkers."

One of the most effective ways to keep out unwanted ideas is to tightly regulate what community members are allowed to read, see and hear. Our pastors work diligently around the clock, scanning countless books, movies and CDs in search of the most offensive garbage you could imagine. All so that we don't have to be exposed to it!

      GOD bless them!

Hallelujah, brother, you are so right. Here is another post from a good Christian website that shows the threats to believers that are out there:

"Recently It feels like there is some sort of wall or barrier between me and God, and I have no clue why. As much as I pray or fast or even study the Bible I can't break through to Him or even sense His presence like I used to. I'm beginning to think it's something demonic related. I've played with Ouija boards and used to be a druid/pagan, so I might have opened a doorway there."

Yet, you go into the stores, and there they are selling Ouija boards for thirty pieces of silver, plus free shipping.
