I would like to express some concern regarding delving too closely into Mormonism.
That they have a disordered view of Scripture, and even worse, have supplemented God's Holy Bible with the depraved yammers of the vile, decerebrate, and whore mongering Joseph Smith, should be sufficient for True Christians(TM) to know to stay clear of the entire rancid Mormon faith.
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

Yes, I know all of this. I just have a friend who is a mormon. Anyway, if we took the name that smith originally intended wouldn't it have been litrally "moron" so he had to change it, or am I talking rubbish?
They are a false church that tells lies in order to gain members. This is just one of the lies. The church tells people that if they baptize for the dead that they can get their family out of lower level heaven (the Mormons don't believe in hell) and into upper level heaven. It's along the same lines as the old Cathilick practice of selling indulgences to desperate people to get loved ones out of hell.
As an ex-Moron myself I can try to explain to you why they do this.
Morons believe that there was no salvation before Joseph Smith "restored" the gospel, thus there are millions and billions of souls that never got to read their book of fairy tales and accept it as truth. They feel that by baptising dead people that they can help them obtain a higher level of salvation and possibly even become exhalted men and women (i.e, Gods and Goddesses).
Morons are wrong, though. Once someone dies they either go to Heaven with Jesus or they get tossed into the lake of fire. There is no "do over" for those who died without Christ, they do not pass "go" they do not collect $200, they go to Hell and burn forever. Moronism leads to an eternity in Hellfire, so you would be smart to stay away. Their lies can be very tempting, because who wouldn't want to be a God themselves? But Morons mislead people constantly, they pretend to be Christians at first and then as you "move up" in the Church they begin to tell you the more "odd" beliefs, those that you might not have accepted when you first joined.
