Nope...not arguing that at all. I'm in no position to make judgement on God's word other than believing it to be the truth. I was just saying that I wasn't making a case of faith without works.

Do you really believe that anyone with a complete understanding of the choice before them, who is fully capable of making either choice, would actually choose to be tortured forever in Hell over the relative comfort of Heaven?

Devils and demons believe. Why are they not saved?

Pentecost: And if God has chosen who is to be saved, why do we need churches, why do we witness, and why do we need revivals if everything is already written in stone?

Are you familiar with the parable of the sower? The elect do not start out saved. They start out as depraved as everyone else. We witness, because God uses us as his instruments on Earth. When the message hits the ears of the unelect, it is like a seed falling on rocky or thorny ground. When the message hits the ears of the elect, it is like a seed falling on good ground.

I get what you're saying much more clearer now. Thanks for the response.

My wife and her brother were raised by a minister and his wife (their grandparents). My wife accepted the Christian path while her brother could care less for living a Christian life. He's more satisfied in smoking pot, lying around all day unemployed, and living off of his older girlfriend. It's always puzzled me how two people raised under the same conditions can turn out so differently.

And here is where it gets interesting. Outward appearances may make it seem like your wife is elect and destined for Heaven, and your brother-in-law is unelect and destined for Hell. This may very well be the case.

However, it could also be the case that the Lord has plans for your brother-in-law, that He is letting him live in sin now only to have more powerful testimony when He does reveal the Truth to him and allow him to become saved.

It could further be the case that your wife is not among the elect, but has experienced a false conversion. This happens all the time -- churches are full of the unelect who mistakenly believe themselves to be saved. They haven't studied the Bible enough to know the difference between a false and true conversion, so they live their whole lives thinking they are saved, only to be surprised to find themselves in Hell. They try to please God and do good works, but all their righteousness are as filthy rags.

Wouldn't that be a kick if you found yourself in Heaven with your brother-in-law instead of your wife?

Well, everyone gets what they deserve in the end. Just so we can be sure she did not have a false-conversion, do you think corporal punishment will help her to dig deeper for the truth so she can be sure?

I am Pentacostal and I can't find anything against speacking in tongues as long as it is done in an orderly fashion. Plus I have personally witnessed peaple get healed. I have seen demons cast out. I've even prayed for a lady herself and she got healed. Even Paul says:

I think these kind of things should ask us for more attention than a few glances The Bible says:PROVE all things; hold fast that which is good I Thessalonians 5:21. Friend, I agree. However, I've seen people claiming to talk in tongues when what they are really doing is just jumping up and down screaming gobbledy-gook. When the Holy Ghost gave the Apostles the gift of tongues, the listeners all heard the Apostles speak in their own language. They spoke foreign languages, not gibberish nonsense syllables.

Besides, the Apostolic signs and wonders were tools for witnessing to the Jews of the 1st century AD (I Cor 1:22), not for today, and the Bible warns us against people who claim to practice them today (II Cor. 11:13-15; Mat. 7:15; 24:11; I Tim. 4:1-2). In fact, the coming Antichrist will gain his followers by working Apostolic signs and wonders (II Ths. 2:8-12; Rev. 13:13-14).

We are well aware of their heresy.

I know it's rare, but I have run across a few Pentecostals who managed to get saved despite the false doctrines they hear at their churches.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and ask you the same question I asked the one who started this thread:

                    • Unconditional Election - God chooses who is to be saved.
                    • Limited Atonement - Jesus paid the penalty for sin for those who are saved only; the unsaved pay their own penalty for sin.
                    • Irresistible Grace - if God wants you to be saved, you will be saved.
                    • Perseverance of the Saints - "once saved, always saved".

I find it hard to fathom that Paul would say anything boastful...

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Wow, doing a search for the word "me" on biblegateway.com provides 3080 uses of the word me.

Number 2414 is in Matthew, let's just say... to make it easy... that the Matthew through John references of the word me, are from Jesus.

The last "me" in John is number 2803. That means the me, used from Matthew through John was Jesus, and used 389 times. (How many of those times are the retelling 4 times of the same story?)

Paul shows up midway through Acts, so for the sake of ease, we'll say the later use of me (up to, but not including revelation) meant paul (which is pretty much accurate).

The first use of "me" in Romans is the 2883 use of the word "me" in the bible.

The last use before revelation is number 3046.

That means Paul used "me" 163 times.

And Paul was just an apostle, and one who never even met Jesus during Jesus' limited time on earth. Paul only having met Him on the road to tarsus.

                      It's funny... Paul also said...

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Judges 9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.

Son, I personally have nothing against Pennycostals except for the fact that they are all Damned to Hell for jibber-jabbering, playing with snakes, acting stupid, and generally pissing down JESUS' back.

Pennycostals are a cross between whiggers and goths visually, and between mud turtles and hedgehogs mentally. Religiously, they are no better than boogaloo darkies or diaperheads. If I were you, I'd get shut of those FALSE CHRISTIANS(tm) before your soul is pulled down to HELL.

The only thing that this jibberish speak is is the word of Satan. We don't know what we are saying, is often said by these believers. But if thay don't know what is being said, then how do they know its from god and not the devil. And do they think all that damnable dancing around is impressing Jesus, or the members of the opposite sex. This is why it's mostly those damned penticostals that are found in them sex scandals. They receive there sinning instructions from Satan when they hear this jibberish.

Sorry, Jesus doesn't need to see me dance to show my love for him. And if I want to hear strange words at a "religious event, I go to one of these witch meetings that those types on here have. And probably find as much real Jesus there as some "pentacost'" church.
