You know, if you were filled with the love of Jesus there wouldn't be any room for all those bad words.

Nothing but Hell for reading, believing, and following the very Word of God?

2.) We practice Communion with unleavened bread and real wine (the way that Christ instituted it). We do not believe in transubstantiation (that the bread and wine are the actual literal body and blood of Christ) or consubstantiation (that the bread and wine are only bread and wine, nothing else). We simply take Christ at His Word, when he gave the meal to us Christians to eat and drink. This is the conflict that other Christian church bodies have with Lutherans. I happen to be a member of The Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod. We believe that Scripture is the inspired Word of God, without error and that Scripture does not contradict itself. Rather, Scripture interprets Scripture. We believe in the Triune God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that Heaven and Hell are real places. Jesus condemns unrepentant sin, loves the sinner, and hates the sin. He gave his life freely for our salvation -- was concieved by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, died as the sacrifice for our sin, was buried three days, rose from the dead, and ascended into Heaven, where he is preparing a place for us. We do not pray to Mary or the saints as Roman Catholics do. We believe that we cannot come to Christ by our own reason or understanding -- rather, it is the Holy Spirit who works faith in us through the spoken and written Word of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ -- and that God doesn't need any help from us in our salvation. Jesus did it all! It's personal - and it's FOR YOU! That's the really short version of what makes Lutherans different from Romans.
Please make a thread of your own in the "Introductions" section of the forum, so that we can properly greet you. Tell us about yourself, your church, and how you came to find Jesus.

And if you're here to flame us, better take a look at THIS before making an even bigger ass out of yourself.

Uh huh, and do you follow everything that is commanded to us in Holy Writ?

I've seen Lutheran womenfolk in pantsuits tha I KNOW were made from fabric blends, missy! And I have known Lutherans who engaged in pre-martial sex and who were divorced-- and who are still accepted members of their church congregations.

What have you to say about that?

    Biblically Yours,

It's a good thing we have Sportzgrl333's assurance that "we don't practice it anymore. I'm guessing we changed that sometime."

We just consider him the person who reformed the church. Not as a prophet, but I can see where that book would misguide people to think we do.
According to research as found HERE:

Luther was the most widely read author of his generation, and he acquired the status of a prophet within Germany. According to the prevailing view among historians, his anti-Jewish rhetoric contributed significantly to the development of antisemitism in Germany, and in the 1930s and 1940s provided an "ideal underpinning" for the National Socialists' attacks on Jews. Reinhold Lewin writes that "whoever wrote against the Jews for whatever reason believed he had the right to justify himself by triumphantly referring to Luther." According to Michael, just about every anti-Jewish book printed in the Third Reich contained references to and quotations from Luther.
Not only was he a self proclaimed profit he was very racist and oppressive against others.

This is all a piece of superstitious nonsense. The idea behind it is that if God ends your life before 'real' Baptism, you can delude yourself into thinking that dear little Frank or Jane has gone to heaven. This deception comforts the weak of faith; usually the parents.

The truth of the matter is that unless you can understand the covenant you make between yourself and God during Baptism, you are not baptized.

Hell is filled with dead infants, get over it.

Of course, it remains controversial since we were too young to judge for ourselves and our faith. However, our spiritual journey doesn't end there. Confirmation would be a time in our teens to deepen our faith and learn more about our faith and mature in it. Infant baptism symbolizes that we belong to God and no one else's. It does not mean we're saved.
Am I to believe your faith's baptism does not mean you are saved? That is the first time I have ever heard such a bold statement completely contradicting a relationship with God.

When the child is old enough to make his own mind up he has a second go at it?

That is NOT the way it is to be done!

    Ephesians 4:5
One Lord, one faith, one baptism.

Baptism is when you and God make a joint and binding covenant that you are a True Christian(tm) and repent your worldly ways.

    Acts 19:4
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

If something this basic and easy escapes you - something we teach our children at grade school age because it is so easy to grasp - then perhaps you need to reconsider the road you are on, the vehicle you are driving, and the very tires you are using to adhere to that road.

What path are you truly on brother?
