That's interesting, because the Church is considering reassigning me from this horrid island of sin and wickedness to that very area next year. I'll soon have THAT place put aright!

Quite honestly sir, I think you might be happy with that area in Washington State. In spite of the Wiccan people there, Puyallup is still a little bit different than the bigger cities surrounding that area. It's more country. They have a big fair there every year. And there are farmers there showing off their prize animals. So if you have families of farmers in a rural area, you might find some devout Christian families with strong, ultra conservative views. You might actually like the place. People from Tacoma consider Puyallup to be redneck, so if that is the case, then there are probably families there that believe in the church and living right in God's eyes. You may be happier there than in Hawaii. I can guarantee you this....you will be seeing people wear more clothes in Washington, than in Hawaii....since it's a bit cooler. It's just that a lot of the city people from Seattle (who might have moved to the more suburban towns) have hippie values. They may practice Wicca, and may be bleeding heart liberal vegans.

Puyallup is a rural town near Seattle/Tacoma, Washington. I went to school there years ago. I have also heard of Wiccans being around that area. Never really paid much attention to them. And no, nobody pushed their Wiccan ideas off on me.

Puyallup is a rural town near Seattle/Tacoma, Washington. I went to school there years ago. I have also heard of Wiccans being around that area. Never really paid much attention to them. And no, nobody pushed their Wiccan ideas off on me.

I don't see anything about kids dressing up as Wiccans, just traditional Witch costumes. How did they make the connection that these kids were being disrespectful of the wiccians? Hopefully they will not outlaw ghost costumes next, or the dead might complain. What about people named Waldo? They obviously don't ALL wear glasses and red striped shirts. Cowboys and indians might be the next to complain. Pregnant nun costumes are certainly spiteful, maybe they should outlaw those, next.

School cancels halloween read the headline. I was thinking great! A Christian place, but NO!I read further and this is what i see:

"Witches with pointy noses and things like that are not respective symbols of the Wiccan religion and so we want to be respectful of that," Hansen said.
The Wiccan, or Pagan, religion is said to be growing in the United States and there are Wiccan groups in Puyallup.
On the district's list of guidelines related to holidays and celebrations is an item that reads: "Use of derogatory stereotypes is prohibited, such as the traditional image of a witch, which is offensive to members of the Wiccan religion."
"I do lots of things that are not revolving around wearing a black outfit and stirring a cauldron," Wiccan priestess Cheryl Sulyma-Masson said in an interview with ABC News in which she explained that Wiccans, or Pagan Clergy, celebrate nature.
This is not the first time the district has expressed concern about offending followers of the Wiccan religion.
An internal e-mail from October 2000 warned that "the Wiccan religion is a bona fide religion under the law, and its followers are entitled to all the protections afforded more mainstream religions. Building administrators should not tolerate such inappropriate stereotyping (images such as Witches on flying brooms, stirring cauldrons, casting spells, or with long noses and pointed hats) and instead address them as you would hurtful stereotypes of any other minority."
