First woman rabbi since WWII ordained

Germany’s first woman rabbi since World War II was ordained on Thursday in Berlin, marking another milestone in the resurgence of Jewish life in the country that perpetrated the Holocaust.

The last woman rabbi ordained in Germany, Regina Jonas – who is also thought to have been the first worldwide – was murdered in Auschwitz, the Nazi death camp where an estimated one million Jews died.

On Thursday, Alina Treiger, 31, who was born in Ukraine but moved to Berlin in 2001, was ordained alongside two fellow students before an audience that included President Christian Wulff and 30 top rabbis – including some women – from around the world.

However, she will not recognised as a rabbi by orthodox Jews, who reject the ordination of women.

Treiger said at a press conference that she found it somewhat irritating that there was so much hype around her appointment, according to daily Berliner Morgenpost.

"I am annoyed; I haven’t actually done anything yet," she said. "It’s only important that a rabbi is good. It’s not important whether it’s a man or a woman."

Treiger will now lead the Jewish communities in the cities of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst in Lower Saxony. She said youth work was important to her. Jewish life had to go on in a country that had once resolved to exterminate Jews.

"The Holocaust is for us a case of working through the grief process," she said.

The Holocaust claimed the life of her predecessor Jonas, who was ordained in 1935 in Offenbach. She was transported to Auschwitz death camp and murdered there in 1944.

Treiger was born in 1979 in then-Soviet Ukraine, where communism prevented religion from playing any public role in life.

But after communism collapsed, Treiger went to Moscow at the age of 18 and studied social work. She then came to Berlin in 2001 and went on to study at the liberal Jewish seminary, the Abraham Geiger College in Potsdam. She learned German as well as Hebrew and completed her studies in Israel.

Jesus does not hear the prayer of Jew, male or female.

Her ordination as rabbi is meaningless.

(I will, however, award 1/2 a point for pissing off the Orthodox tribe)
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

No wonder the Germans had to exterminate those Jooz. They couldn't just let them go around ordaining women leaders, now could they?

Of course the numbers are still exagerrated. They didn't kill anywhere near a million Jooz in Auschwitz. It was more like 100.

It's very sad what's happened to Germany over the last several decades. They have such a wonderful and proud history.

I have always been impressed with the level of care the Germans have expended in maintaining their special guest facilities in usable condition all these years.

We sure do have a proud heritage, it was in the German news a few days ago that, the bigger cities are upset because the Muslimes are moving in so fast and building their "Heritage and customs" that ours is dissapearing from site, thank God I live in a county that has only about 30,000 people, it's a small place that has hung on to it's heritage, our stores are not open on Sunday's, and all stores are closed at 8:00 pm all other days, only 2 gas stations are open till 11:00 pm, and there is only 1 queer in our town, that is, one known queer, in short what I am saying is that: I Am Blessed By The Lord. Amen!!!

This absolutely disgusts me. Although it isn't law here, culturally I feel the same way about many topics. There was a lot more to "the Holocaust" than Hitler was pure evil and wanted to kill as many joos as he could.

Are you allowed to discuss that he tried to export them first, but that nobody else wanted to take on "Germany's Jewish problem"?

Are you allowed to discuss that numerous other people were sent besides the joos?

Are you allowed to discuss it at all? Or must you just swallow whatever the government tells you to say and that is that?

As I said, over here technically it's not illegal, but if you say anything then you're classified as an antisemitic, jack boot wearing, nazi. You're also automatically a "nigger lynching KKK" if you dare to say that the civil war wasn't really about slavery.

But we also see it on here, where the History revisionists try and tell us that King James wrote the Bible, or that although the Bible is very clear about Homosexuality, what it really means is that God loves homers.

Hi BelieverInGod, nice to see you again, I also lived in America, from 1962 - 1999, and yes, in America we can say what we want about the jooacaust, and even make jokes about it, but not here. When I first came back to Germany, it was on Halloween 1999, I had just met a woman, and I wanted to do something special for Haloween, I wanted to dress up like Hitler, so I shaved my stash just like his, then I took the bus from the village I lived in to the main town to see this woman and ask where I could rent an S-S uniform, needless to say, she flipped out and started yelling at me, telling me that I can go to prison for a long time for that, and it's a miracle that the bus driver had not called the polizie, then she made me shave it all off, with a woman's razor on top of that, then she explained the laws to me, ooooops, then she told me that her mother and grandparents were Polish Joos, and her father was an American from the great state of Texas, ooooops, BelieverInGod, do you believe that first impressions are ever lasting??. Well, we are still together, to this day, and I love her very much, but sometimes in private I tell her my Joo jokes from America, lol, lol, she just gives me that look. We have around our area in our county, in the villages, a lot of Neo Nazis, and not one of them tries to impersonate Hitler, because of the laws, they have their own brand of music which is outlawed, getting caught with this music is automatic prison, displaying any old nazi fashions is automatic prison, that's why they just shave their heads, that is most do, not all, I know a few that don't, we are not allowed to dispute the numbers, or what Hitlers original intentions were about the deportation of the joos, and we are only permitted to publicly point the finger at Hitler, Heinrich, and Goring, oh, by the way, my grand father was the Haupt Chef, (Main Boss), for the S-S in our county, some people like me, some people don't, I won't say my last name on this forum, but, there is one person on this forum, a wonderfull man, and outstanding true Christian that knows my full name, because I shared my person E-Mail address with him.

Absolutely disgusting. How can you learn from the past if you aren't willing to discuss it. Instead of pointing a finger at Hitler, perhaps it would be better to look at how he was LEGALLY elected into office. If people learned this stuff they would have been less likely to vote in someone like Obama, which is basically following the same route. I could easily see Obama pulling a kristallnacht in order to "save us from ourselves", only in America he will be coming after the True Christians(TM) as opposed to the Jews.

Also, I lost an uncle in a bombing raid. He was a rear-gunner on loan to the RAF, so if anyone should hold a grudge against the Germans it should be me. My father was never shipped overseas because of the "last son" agreement. Instead, I often joke about "my best boss was a Nazi" (well Hitler Youth actually). As for racial jokes, if Seth is in a playful mood, I'll make jokes about cheap Scot's, the same as he'll make jokes about Abba or eating reindeer regarding me. Our children get the brunt of it, we like to joke that they have "the temper of a viking and the ability to carry a grudge 300 years". But hey, I guess that makes me a racist.

You're not going to get into trouble for discussing this on the 'net are you?

Rumours of a link between the US first family and the Nazi war machine have circulated for decades. Now the Guardian can reveal how repercussions of events that culminated in action under the Trading with the Enemy Act are still being felt by today's president.

This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.
